I had my air conditioning recharged there 2000 miles ago it stopped blowing cold recently went back in and they found a loose Schrader valve recharged the cooling system and did not charge me anything. You can't ask for better service than that.

The most trustworthy mechanic I've ever been to. Doug takes the time to explain every issue he finds, in a way that makes sense to whatever level of car knowledge you possess. His quotes have always been accurate, and I've never had an issue he couldn't fix. I would absolutely recommend this place.

Been going to Dougs for a few years. It’s great, call ahead, tell him what I need, and I usually drop the car off. Never hasn’t had the tools to do the work needed or broken anything on the car, where I had to bring it back again or over sold me on things I don’t need. Just easy to chat with. One time he spotted my expired inspection sticker from across the parking lot ! Saved me a $55 ticket. I have had such bad experiences with mechanics, really glad I’ve found this place.

Wicked Awsome local Billerica Mechanic. Another great experience with Doug Smith. This time only for an inspection and guess what..? The $35 sticker only cost $35, not some made up extra expense from other less trust worthy inspection establishments. Always fair, honest reasonably priced work from Doug Smith. They always take the time to explain repairs, fixing onlyvwhat is needed to be safe and secure. I take all 3 cars there (2016, 2015 and 2002) for everything and never a problem.

Doug is great! Takes care of my wife's Cadillac, along with my company cars. All his employees are very nice, and honest. Doug Smith Auto is a great place to go for repairs, and get treated like a valued customer.

I needed an oil change and an annual car inspection. I grew up outside of Mass, so car inspections are really new to me. I had heard plenty of stories of mechanics failing inspections just to earn a quick dollar on their customers, loyalty or not. So, I completed several days of research focus on auto shops around Burlington, Woburn, and the surrounding smaller towns. I decided to go with Doug because: - The reviews on various websites were from locals and non-regulars who all experienced great service - Closeness to my work in Burlington My experience with John and Doug (the owner) was a great one, albeit a hard one. - I went in for my scheduled appointment for an inspection and oil change (I waited at the liquor store two lots down. They have a lottery area in the back that had seating with AC). An hour later, I returned to a failed inspection and a $700 quote on repairs. Now, my car ended up failing the inspection for reasonable and valid reasons (needed new tires and a broken licenses plate light was hanging out the back). That being said, it wasn't a fun experience expecting a $77 bill for an oil change and inspection, and being told I needed additional work on top of it just to legally drive. - John presented the failure with a lot of grace and even helped me to explore more times to return back to the shop to get the repairs done. He helped me understand why the inspection failed, the time I had to get the repairs done, and what Doug Smith Auto recommended. He didn't pressure me into doing the repairs there, nor right then. This was huge for me, as I am a salesmen by career and have huge angst against professionals who pressure customers into purchases/services. I paid my completed services and went on my way In the end, I made another appointment with Doug Smith and had all my repair work done their that same week. However, this wasn't without proper research on prices, cost of service/hour, and a few other factors that play into overall value. In my experience, Doug Smith over charges on the parts they order, compared to surrounding auto repair competition. However, their cost of labor per hour is significantly less than the surrounding competition. Comparing the work needed on my car to other surrounding auto repairs, I found Doug Smith offered a similar, if not just slightly cheaper, overall cost. I have no loyalty to a local mechanic yet. I simply haven't been in Massachusetts long enough to do so. So, I am currently chasing the best prices that match with pleasant services, and even more pleasant staff. Overall, Doug Smith operated in a way that was trustworthy and ethically upstanding, while offering services at a competitive advantage compared to other local shops. Until I have a bad experience (whether through costs, or just overall service), Doug Smith will be my go-to mechanic in the Burlington area moving forward. ** I'll happily Update this review based on future visits if necessary **
