Love provisions. I've been shopping here for a bunch of years. It's great for getting gifts but even better for buying stuff for yourself. Amazing cheese, a baguette from tarte, a bottle of wine and a pint of Jeni's ice cream and you're all set for an amazing dinner. I also really like the ravioli in the frozen section that comes from New Hampshire. Wine selection is perfect - lots of choice but not overwhelming and you can't go wrong.

Stellar selection. Prices 10-15% higher than what I usually pay, but that reflects rent and pay for NOHO. I mean, where else can you get Jeni’s icecream and Georgian wines?

I was attempting to purchase a few beers for myself, when the store clerk asked to see ID's from all persons in my group of 4 people despite the fact that I was the only one purchasing alcohol. One of our group members, my younger sister (who was not purchasing alcohol mind you), was not 21. The store then refused to allow me (of legal drinking age) to purchase their beer despite the familial relation which we gladly would have proved with Identification if asked. Does this mean that a mother with a 3 year old daughter cannot purchase a bottle of wine because she entered the store with a 3 year old and may be purchasing the alcohol for them? Does everyone in the store need to be identified for all purchases of alcohol because they may be in a group? Does this mean that parents must leave children or babies unattended outside whenever purchasing any sort of alcohol? Does this mean my sister cannot even enter the store to look at their non-alcoholic wares like cheeses and crackers if I would like to purchase an alcoholic beverage? Incredibly rude to insinuate that I must force my family to stand outside or frankly HIDE in order for me to purchase items from this store. I have never run into this policy before at any liquor store and I have had no issue purchasing alcoholic beverages when running errands with my sister before. I would think that anyone who was attempting to purchase alcohol for a minor wouldn't be dumb enough to bring them into the store to do so. A real shame that such lovely store has adopted this absolutely insane policy.

Good selection of hard alcohol, hit and miss wine selection is overpriced, cheese and charcuterie selection is mediocre, staff are not well versed with their own products, location is central albeit a bit tricky to access. Still glad to have this store in the gourmet desert of Western Massachusetts.

Wow! The Provisions on Cowls Road in Amherst has succeeded my expectations! A huge THANK YOU to Matt and Cory for going above and beyond to put together an amazing gift bag and working within my budget to get it delivered. Cheers! Hospitality at its finest!

As a recent transplant from Southern California where boutique wine stores are plentiful, Provisions has been a god sent. What makes it so good, is not just its selection of natural wines, but good wines, at a good value, very carefully curated and regularly rotated (just enough) to always make it interesting. They have a great 15 and under wall that is excellent if you are trying to stay under budget and the wines are never so overpriced as to be offensive to the average drinker. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and almost every bottle has tasting notes (from specific staff with lovely drawings) to actually give you an idea of what to expect (imagine that!) so you feel more adventurous in trying something new. I should also say as a regular wine drinker you will rarely see the same bottles you can find at your average bevmo, trader joes, wholefoods so you actually feel like you are making discoveries. Their cheese and beer selections are equally on par and they also have a really wonderful (but small) selection of spirits. Anyway, this is already too long but I can't say enough about how wonderful this store is and honestly how its kept me from fleeing back to CA when faced with the gloomy weather. A toast to you Provisions *chin chin*

Favorite store!!! it’s a treasure trove. I can count on maybe one hand the other shops of this kind (libations and fantastic things to pair with them) that I’ve ever been to that have this good of a selection, whether that be abroad, in nyc, Massachusetts/New England etc. just great taste. If I can’t find it anywhere else, it’s likely here. Bonus likes for their sake section. Love.

This place has awesome wines, craft beers and cheeses. The staff had always been helpful and friendly. They have frequent free tastings and they also have many paid events. They range from fairly reasonably priced to kind of pricey, at least for my wallet. I highly recommend checking out their website and maybe signing up for their email list. You'll get more and better information from them, than I could possibly explain. Also, the wine selection is immense for such a moderate space and they have everything for everyone's palates and wallet. Their craft beer section is great and they also carry brands that I haven't seen at other locations.

Wow. I walked in and immediately knew I had to come back. This place is amazing! Excellent cheese selection, incredible wine and craft beer selection and wonderfully friendly staff. Great products, without charging you an arm and a leg. Definitely put this on your grocery run!

Pricey, but worth it. Most varied wine selection in the valley, with particular focus on organic, biodynamic, natural, and interesting small wine producers. Pair that with interesting cheeses and an array of craft beer and artisanal dry goods. A go-to for special occasion meals, quality gifts, or treats you can't find anywhere else!
