After reading some of the other (not so nice) comments. I needed to say that my visit Sunday morning was fabulous. I went in and found everything i was looking for and more. Produce section looked fresh and the different variety of meat . smoked, fresh, salted. I'm glad i made the trip.

Compare foods has changed its name to gala foods it's a nice starter go to has some varieties that other stores don't have. They almost always have fresh prepared Spanish food for purchase.

Compare hasn't changed much since it was rebranded - it's still the same cold, unsanitary, loud grocery store it was three years ago, but with a fresh paint job. If you need dry goods or canned items, you're probably fine - but I'd recommend against buying anything from their meat or produce section. Nothing ever looks or smells fresh, and the vegetable sections with the water sprayers are just soggy and spoiled. I've purchased baked goods twice with mold in them, and their rotisserie chickens are absolutely terrible, old and borderline spoiled. There is 0 customer service, and items like toothpaste and Tylenol are behind a counter where you have to request assistance. There's a Cosmetic Booth between the Spices and Chips aisles, where you can get your eyebrows and facial hair Tweezed in the grocery store, for some reason - and a little stand selling bootleg dvds, used phones and junk jewelry. Despite having a very 'cheap' aesthetic, the prices are typically higher than you'd expect to find on most basic items. This is the closest grocery store to me (literally a 3 minute walk) and I refuse to go to it anymore. I'd rather drive to a decent grocery store. If you go around to the back of Compare, you can see the holes in the concrete walls leading into their back room, and the rat traps lining the building. This place should not be selling food.

Always well organized and shelves fully stock. Amazing customer service. But the fruits and vegetables are coming out rotten and smelly, like the Cassava (yuca) I just bought less than 24hrs ago and even though I spoke to the ordering manager & other employees to help me find items (that can prove I was there), they will not replace it for good food items. Wilson the manager suggested for me to go from Leominster to Worcester and keep guessing on the schedules of those employees, but would still not replace my spoiled Cassava

I bought a pound of ham they gave me the bottom end of the ham I asked for thinly sliced the cuts were all uneven and the ham was spoiled and didn’t smell right, I went there humbly with the receipt and they would not correct the problem sorry ladies and gentleman but I let them keep the pound of ham and told them that they can now sell it to someone else, it’s said because I really loved going there, but for the record check everything you buy from there check expiration dates and also I will not shop there again, they preferred to lose a customer than to correct the problem, .

I believe its now Galo foods... I used the pharmacy for years but the service became very slow and not efficient I also believe the supermarket is a bit too expensive although I do love their cheese bread as long as you eat it within 48 hours or it will mold

I used to love this place especially the hot bar until i stated paying attention to the expiration dates. I've caught somethings that's over a year old
