Mill City Sound is independent record store located in Hopkins that has the largest selection of new & used records in the Twin Cities. Founded in 2014 by a long time record collector who retired from the technology industry and always wanted to open up a record store. It has since expanded three times to two levels and over 6,000 square feet of vinyl. We are not a head shop or a gift shop but one of the best records stores in the midwest that draws collectors from all over the world. We also feature a large selection of Turntables, Phono Cartridges & in house turntable repair to make sure your turntable is running at it’s best.

Always pleased by the selection and the layout is easy to navigate and understand. Love coming here. The staff is also very helpful, whether you have a technical question regarding your home setup or need help finding a specific record, they seem to have an answer to any and all questions.

I went throught the entire process to buy a record only to have to call the store and find out that they don't ship. What's the point of alling people to put items in the cart if they can't buy them? Remove the ability to purchase items and let customers know on the front page that you do not ship. What an absolute waste of time.

Great place, very friendly staff with a ton to browse. Haven't left empty-handed yet! Their vinyl club is a must! My only qualm is they price sticker the album cover rather than the protective sleeve. I understand how it could be used as an anti-theft measure, but other stores manage fine without it, and there's only so much sticker residue one can get off the cover! Edit: Appreciate the quick response, didn't know ya had those available! Next time I swing by I 100% will!

There’s nothing better than the outright honesty of a record store who will be truly forward with you about their business. I had name-dropped many folks who have been around for a long time, and they knew my crowd. That’s the ticket. This is one incredibly well-stocked store with deeply knowledgeable people. Also wanted to point out they posted their LGBTQ+ posters today, in celebration of Pride month. Welcoming to all is the best part of the business.

Surprisingly large record store that also offers cleaning and de-warping services. Staff was friendly and helpful, particularly John who helped with a de-warping of one of my favorite vinyls. John was knowledgeable, friendly, and showed a ton of passion for his craft. My vinyl looked incredible afterwards and played flawlessly; needless to say that I'll be visiting here frequently for all of my record needs.

Was online and had seen an album that I really wanted but I could only find here. I live in NC. I understand that this company doesn't ship but I had also read where the store had recently re-opened for business to the public anyway. It probably wouldn't have hurt them or put them out in any way, to have made an exception here. I would have been more than willing to pay the shipping costs. I wouldn't have just thrown the sale away. It's their business. I'm just terribly disappointed. Customer service these days, wherever you go, seems to be at an all time low and this covid paranoia is not helping at all.
