They have terrible hours and dont communicate it well. Closed on labor day. No sign or anything. They close at 8pm. Charlotte is too spread out to close so early. We wouldn't be able to make it in time for a decent workout. Open at 530am which needs to be earlier to work the early closing or something. Close randomly when it was a sprinkle of snow. The snow melted in 10min but they closed the entire day. Starting to get more crowded early mornings.

This is a nice Y even though it is small. Free weights including bench press and squat racks. Good selection of machines. Well kept and managed well. Always clean. The Steele Creek area, zip codes 28273 and 28278 definitely need a larger facility. Both zips are growing at a rapid pace. Hopefully the Gill Y at Steelecreek will eventually be constructed. This would be great for the community.

Still not building new facility? The community outsized this location. We don't need Boutique fitness centers in Steele Creek! With all the population growth and housing increase in our community our elected officials need to do something and plan better for our community.

Great Place and the staff is phenomenal. Not the biggest location but definitely one of the most friendliest.

The staff is very mindful of Covid precautions and responsive. I feel comfortable getting back to my workout routine here. Much better than Dowd. Best YMCA in the city!

Nice YMCA. Staff is friendly. This is a very small location with only two work out areas and four showers in the ladies locker room. Fitness classes are available, but there is no child watch.

One of my favorite YMCA branches. This branch is smaller and conveniently located in the Steele Creek area. Although it doesn't compare to its sibling branches in size, this YMCA has everything you need. They have full locker rooms complete with changing rooms and showers, a cycle studio, a multipurpose room where group classes are held, and two separate areas with plenty of cardio machines & weight-lifting equipment. Staff here is incredibly friendly. Love coming here for a quick workout before or after work. Only down side is the lack of a sauna and steam room. All Y's should have them in my opinion lol

Clean and well maintained gym however considering the size of the space it has limited number of equipment's so expect more wait times during peak times. I have been using this gym for more than 3 years now. Evenings are pretty packed and you end up wasting more time in waiting for equipment that you need. Friendly staff!

I guess coming here from The Morrison and Sara "Y" there is a shock. WOW, it's small I am not saying it isn't doable because it is, but then Wednesday happened. in the very small workout area they had a class... I was shocked!!! loud music playing and all. There was no room for tthis in that are and it was inconsiderate for this to take place where other's were trying to work out . Yes I asked about it when I was leaving, I cut my workout short due to it. The class was spread out and crowded around equipment I would normally use. Did I mention they do NOT have small dumbbells for members to use. (If they do they are hidden) I felt like I was in Planet fitness (I would recommend the staff figure out something about classes and where to have them, perhaps in the morning or later in the evening not 5pm in the middle of the very small weight area. I have heard MANY people talk about how small this location is. with the way Steele Creek is growing I would hope the Y would as well. #I won't even discuss the locker rooms... Clean yet but need major overhaul!!!

If you are used to the larger, better appointed YMCA locations, this one is pretty tiny and Spartan. The women's locker room is almost unusable: no benches, and the lockers are crammed together so that one person changing clothes can block several lockers at once. With more than one person, it becomes a complete traffic jam. (I've started changing in my office rather than trying to squeeze into the locker room.) They have a good number of cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals, recumbent bikes) for the size of the facility. At lunch, unfortunately some kind of class uses the cardio room rather than one of the group exercise rooms, so some days you have to climb over people on the floor and deal with the instructor yelling when you're trying to squeeze in a workout. They do have two water bottle refill stations, which are convenient. And the reception staff is friendly. It's better than not working out at all, but if I weren't already a Y member, I would go elsewhere.
