When making original order, price doubled during the ordering process. Was charged an additional day when the car was turned in on time. Waited over an hour in line to get a car even though it was PREPAID. Car smelled of smoke and was not washed before I received it. There were a few positives, after waiting the hour in line at Budget, Alicia at AVIS, called me to her empty line and assisted in getting the car for me. At one point I temporarily lost the keys and Adrian, in customer service was sympathetic, kind and helpful. Fortunately, I did find the keys and avoided the $439 fee! Also, the check in process was fast and efficient.

The car I rented had an empty tank of gas. I was on the highway in an area I did not know with no gas. I got off at the first exit and started searching for gas. Not knowing if I would run out. I prepaid for a tank of gas when I returned the car at $55. I also put $45 in gas in the car within 20 miles of where I picked up the car. I WILL NEVER RENT FROM BUDGET AGAIN ! THIS IS ZERO STARS, I HAD TO CLICK 1 STAR TO BE ABLE TO POST!

***Edited to add I never received the refund and it's been two weeks. ***The time I had with the car was great. However when I returned the car I stopped before hand and filled up the tank. After leaving, I received an email saying the tank was only filled with 10 gallons. I then had to go back up to Budget. I stood in line for about 30 minutes. While I was in line I also called customer service. I was on hold with customer service the whole time I was in line and customer service ended up helping me before I was even able to get up to the counter. They only had one person working the counter. Customer service was able to work through the situation and give me a refund I hope I will be receiving. It is hard to believe that a big company like this is trying to get extra money from the customers when gas is so high. It is hard for me to believe that putting in 10 gallons instead of a full tank was a mistake. I hope that moving forwards the company can keep on eye on situations like this.

Budget car rental on July 25, 2022: Most everything was fine with this rental EXCEPT the return (and that you rented me a car that may have had a broken front passenger seat). My final destination was 30 miles from the Budget Rental office. So I made arrangements with a Good Samaritan who was only available that afternoon, to follow me to Budget so I could return the car. Upon arriving at the Budget office, we discovered it was CLOSED and NO AFTER HOURS KEY DROP OR ALTERNATIVE OPTION was available. So we had to drive 30 miles back to destination, then the next morning when the office was open, I again drove 30 miles to the Budget office. So I had to drive a total of 90 MILES to return this car. AND, to make matters worse, my Good Samaritan was not available, so I had to hire a driver for $60 to take me back to my final destination. I complained to the Budget agent about the lack of an after hours key drop. He said it was Budget's policy not to have an after hours key drop because of Budget's policy to inspect the returned car with the customer so that Budget & the customer could inspect and agree on the condition of the vehicle. If you want to do business that way, that's fine. But you should AT LEAST have an ALTERNATIVE OPTION for after hours returns. My situation resulted in extreme inconvenience, frustration, and aggravation. By the way, when it comes to making another car rental reservation, I will consider using Enterprise which provides an after hours key drop for its customers.

Picked up the car got on the interstate and there was only 13 lbs of air in right front tire. Had to stop and put air in. Next day tire was completely flat. I called and the woman that helped me was very pleasant and gave me some options but everything was to far away. I took it to a local shop and had it patched when it needed to be replaced. The man at the window for car returns didn't seem very interested or polite. Won't use budget again

I would not ever rent from Budget, it was a horrible experience from start to end. They gave me a car that had a suspension issue so I had to drive back up there to get a replacement car. I asked they guy if I could get an upgrade for the inconvenience and he told me I will get the same type that I paid for. The second vehicle was very filthy, windows were dirty and so was the mirrors, I had to clean them so I could see. I had to wash the car soon as I got home because it was dirty. You get exactly what their name says, "Budget", you get what you pay for. Customer service was horrible, they had attitudes and spoke to you as if you owed them something. The only good experience was returning it, the guy who took the car was friendly and nice. Besides that, it was a complete waste of my money for a 2 day rental. Rent at your own risk.

Budget has been my go to rental company for over 20 years. Based on my last few experiences feels like it is time for a change. Fastbreak is not what it used to be, customer service on the ground is in thin supply. Disappointing. CLE is the worst, PHX can’t figure out fastbreak (nor can CLE).

Not sure I'll be back with Budget after this one. I usually rent a vehicle 3-4 times per year and have used Budget more than a few times over the years. For this rental, I was originally assigned a Tahoe. When I inspected the Tahoe, it was apparent it had never been cleaned. There was garbage left inside the vehicle and even chunks of a half-eaten cookie. I went back to the desk to let them know they assigned me a vehicle that was never cleaned. I was not offered an apology but was given a few excuses then told they had nothing else available. I asked where we go from here....she then called somebody on her radio and let me know they would have an Expedition ready for me in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, the Expedition pulled up. I inspected and found this one to be in even worse condition and it was obviously never cleaned. At this point, I was out of time, so I took it home where I spent 2 hours cleaning it as I didn't feel comfortable putting my family in this vehicle. This thing was so dirty, I don’t think I purposely could have made a mess like this. Garbage, half-eaten food, dog hair, spilled beverages. You name it, this vehicle had it. I took pictures if you would like me to share....... Also, the license plate expires 2 days before my scheduled turn in date.....how does this even happen? How is it possible that I would be assigned two vehicles that were never cleaned?

On December 16, 2021 my family and I rented a vehicle from budget at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. The vehicle we received was a KIA soul. On the road we noticed that the blindspot monitoring safety feature was not working at all. I called budget this morning on December 17th and spoke to a representative. I made the representative aware of this situation. The representative transferred me to another number where I was placed on hold for 30 minutes. I was transferred again both times I explained myself and the situation I was in no representative was able to resolve my situation or even validate my concerns. The last representative put me on transfer and that is where I was disconnected.

This was a weird instance to give a five star rating because the computer"server" was down and it was taking very long time to finalize the "paperwork" and receive our car. The staff worked really hard to get things done and tried to keep the clients, if not happy, at least calm. The woman that took care of our car reservation (I have memory issues, so her name escapes me) even managed to help us upgrade our car to the coolest one at the wedding! Yep, the Budget staff at the Cleveland Hopkins Airport earned our gratitude that day!
