The “month to month” membership is a lie. I tried to cancel at the end of the month (would’ve sooner but I was bedridden with COVID for over a week) and was informed that you must cancel by the 25th or you’ll be billed for another month! This seems like a really slimey way to take more money from people who may be cancelling for a variety of reasons including financial emergencies. The facility itself is okay. The locker rooms are not very clean so I wouldn’t recommend showering there unless you want athletes foot (even with shower shoes). The child watch center leaves a lot to be desired as well. There were some excellent employees there however one in particular made it clear she did not like my son (who is ONE) and basically let the children run wild…they were rummaging through cabinets when I came to pick up my kids once. Not very safe if you ask me.

Ashley confirmed that they allow kids to identify as whatever gender they see that they are. This means that they will support a girl that claims to be a boy, to participate against boys, and will allow boys to compete against little girls if they "think" they are a girl. How about that?! Isnt the YMCA something? You are forcing young children deal with this nonsense and worst of all, the coaches will have to support it. We will never allow our children to be involved with any organization that doesn't take a hard stance on identity nonsense, especially one like the YMCA that is supposed to help mold and strengthen our children, not confuse them

Signed up for four week swimming lessons; misunderstanding with classes. Management didn't try to assist with the issue. I am very disappointed with this branch. Please try and meet the customers half way with a solution.

Customer service is terrible, and very unorganized. I had to go up to management just to get a start date on my kids soccer, because no one in the front desk new. None of the soccer fields are labeled so good luck finding your team. Our coach dipped out on the last day, and was supposed to take team pics (she didn’t), and she didn’t put anyone in charge when she left so I literally had to step in and help coach. Did I mind, no, but what else was I supposed to do. The other team was running scrimmages, and our kids were sitting around the field picking flowers 😑. In addition, for some reason we had only 6 players in our team, which meant they had to play the entire game. Mind you, I have a 6 year old….there is no way in hell she can play an entire game. The other team had so many players, so many I lost count…I think I counted 11. They could easily switch out players when they got to tired. So on our last day we were forced to forfeit in the middle because our team was too tired to continue 😢. The other team stayed and played a game with their own team, it was pretty messed up. My daughter was upset because she couldn’t understand why we had to stop the game 😡. The saddest part, while we loaded up the car one of the parents rushed over to hand over a medal for her. Apparently a director (I’m not sure who) handed them to her. It did cheer my daughter up, but sadly not everyone got a medal because they had already left by the time medals were handed out. Hopefully they’ll actually read this and make the proper changes, and have a better way to educate coaches of their responsibilities.

Up to date equipment. Steam room is nice. Sauna need help. Pool is chilly but nice. Staff is attentive and friendly.

Customer service needs serious improving overall. A teacher name Mel is Rude and has the personality that certainly should not be employed at a place referred to as the Young Mens CHRISTIAN Association YMCA but COVID is excusing everything I guess

Rude white lady that is just instructor came into the room where me & friend use as a dance area borrowing speakers. She went to tell her boss after we’ve been using that room for about 2 weeks now. She was talking to us in a nasty manner until the point me & friend decided to leave for the disrespect we was shown. Not a way to welcome new members or guest’s!!!!

Re: Feeling Devalued as a Patron NW YMCA canceled my mbrship without providing a simple courtesy call or sending a simple mailer notifying me of payment issues. What was the purpose of providing my address and phone if you were not going to use it? To add further fuel to the fire in the theme of no value Based Customer Service, when I inquired as to the reason I wasn't called I was given a cookie cutter answer that the YMCA has 30,000 customers across Columbia (although not at NW location)that make it impossible to provide courtesy calls. Their policy is to send emails. Not once did I get an empathetic I am sorry or I apologize for the inconveniences. It is an inconvenience to get stuck with a $30 charge off that could have been prevented with a simple call. Needless to say, I have taken my business elsewhere rather than feel like a number. My message to the NW YMCA is that every customer has value.

This YMCA has some of the filthiest bathrooms and shower areas of any YMCA I've ever visited. I've been a YMCA member for over 30 years. I showed the director of this YMCA the photographs I'm posting here, his only comment was is they were going to use the money in the budget to paint the building. Really. Should they decide to clean up the bathrooms and bring them up to spec I'll post another review and give them the acknowledgement that they deserve. But until then I can only give this place of raining of 1 * anything else is not possible at this time
