I purchased two trees during spring time and I requested help from the person working around fruit trees and he helped in picking Pear and Santa Rosa plum. I returned home and put them in my backyard. I got lot of fruits in my first year only on the plum tree but I cut them all except two so tree can work on the roots for the first year. After 3-4 months when the two fruits matured, to my utter surprise, it was a peach tree and not plum. It was/is so frustrating when I picked plums but I am getting peaches. The tag of Santa rosa is still on the tree. The bigger problem is that you can't even do anything since they are trees and not some small plants which you can replace. Very Very disappointed by Shades of Green Nursery.

Probably the best local garden shop in Frisco. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. You can tell they all actually garden and know their job. Plants get watered and cared for. I've never walked in with a specific need and not gotten answers. Including the tools and products to go along with it. It's a beautiful space too. Also every Fall the have an incredible selection of pumpkins and chrysanthemums. This place is pure quality.

When I moved to McKinney I found this amazing place. So unique and unexpected. A year after taking an early retirement I went to work at Shades of Green. Shopping and working at a family owned business is truly amazing. Great team, native plants, 200+ year old cotton tree. Come check us out!

My favorite garden center for native plants. The staff is knowledgeable and much more helpful than home improvement store grand centers. The center itself is pretty and fun to walk around. The shade pavilion, gift house, and green house with indoor plants are pretty. There is always a great variety.

Fantastic nursery! 7 acres. From natives to cultivated, trees, shrubs, flowers and veggies & herbs, decorations, some hardscape materials, huge pots. AND THEY HAVE MILKWEED!! For the Monarch butterflies. Picked up more color for our beds, some Texas Pure Compost and some herbs for cooking!

So far I've got a few fruit trees and a blueberry bush from here. All are very healthy and are growing well. The peach tree bare fruits a few months after I planted it, and they were the best peaches we've ever had! I have peach trees from other stores that are slowly growing and barely giving any fruit. The blueberry, also only 3 months since we planted it, is generously growing plenty of fruits, which makes kids so happy. Prices are low, especially for this quality. Service is impeccable. Only problem is to find a parking spot in a weekend, but the wait is short.

Very knowledgeable staff. Wide variety of plants and landscape products to meet all the needs of the area. It can be pricier than the big box stores but the quality and consistency makes it a better value. Parking in the front on the weekend is a challenge so I recommend going to the additional parking in the back using the entrance to the left of the main building.

Good for plants, shrubs and pottery. Nothing here I can't get from Calloways, Lowes, or Home Depot. Entrance and exit signs would be helpful. Also, having staff around to ask if we need assistance would be extra special.

I spent two different days and roughly 4 hours with the staff at Shades of Green picking out a large order for our new home, and the people were helpful, kind, and so knowledgeable! They made the process so easy, had plenty of inventory, and helped me make final decisions about which plants would grow best in all of my different beds. All of the staff was smiling and helpful. I would absolutely recommend Shades of Green to anyone, whether you’re an expert or a novice like me. I was very impressed!

Really disgusted with how I was treated here by the managers Robin and I believe the other one was Derek (tall guy with shoulder length blonde hair.) I purchased a large blue agave plant. I asked 2 guys if they could help load it on a cart and into my truck. The guys inspecting the plant I purchased before loading it asked if I was sure I wanted that one. I told them there were only 2 available in that size and they both had brown tips but I could prune them. THEY suggested I ask for a bit of a discount and show the managers the browning since I had already purchased. I did as advised by the staff not knowing protocol. A sweet girl brought me into their office and explained the situation. They said right away "We don't give discounts, none of our staff would tell her that." What are you implying? I already purchased the plant, I was advised by your staff and thought 'maybe I'll get $10 off a $200 plant.' The younger guy started to tell me what to do to prune it and then got a phone call and stopped mid sentence to answer. I was just standing there with the girl, all of them ignoring me. She told me to come into the office to speak to them since I was standing in the doorway, I replied, "Why, they're all ignoring me." ROBIN replied with "What do you want, what's your question?" (With a nasty tone) I stood there literally shocked with how I was being treated when their own staff had told me to ask for a discount, I had just wanted them to put the plant in my car. I said "You know what, I want a refund." He did a little chuckle and was like yea, okay, those are hard to find so ...." so arrogant. I left and the staff member with me was apologizing profusely to me, she felt so bad. I asked her if they treat them  that way too, she said she thinks they're just busy and stressed but it doesn't give a right to treat someone the way they spoke to me and I agree. The tall blonde guy passed me as I was walking out and said with a smug smile "Have a wonderful day" eyeroll. This situation could have and SHOULD HAVE been handled differently. "Ma'am, I'm so sorry our staff informed you of asking for a discount, we don't do that but if you do such and such with the plant it will thrive and continue to grow." Problem solved. At your next staff meeting please make sure you let your employees know not to advise customers to ask for a discount. I was put in a bad situation and was treated poorly for it.. My husband owns his own business and we would want to know if our staff were treating customers/clients poorly. It takes one bad egg and unfortunately 2 of yours just lost some business for you.
