We had Mountain State redesign and create our new Kitchen. We do not live close to Lehi, and still Jerry made the trip to our home to help us with our project. He was very informative and professional in helping us come up with ideas we hadn't even thought of. Jerry was able to stay within our budget for the kitchen. Our walls are slanted which makes the construction of the cabinets difficult. People came out more than once to confirm measurements and ensure the cabinets would fit properly. The finished product was far beyond our expectations. The installer was amazing. He worked all day and into the night to make sure everything was perfect. His attention to detail was outstanding. After the work was completed, Mountain West also helped by cutting matching material needed to complete areas around my windows and edges to help finish the project. Everyone involved were very helpful, answered all questions, and added advice which made the project as successful as it turned out. I highly recommend Mountain States Kitchen and bath. This was a large project for us, and they made it so much easier. People who have seen the results have been very impressed, and many have turned to Mountain States for their projects. Cabinets and countertops are beautiful. The quality is clearly very good. The service was awful. So bad, that we wouldn't recommend anyone using Mountain States. I did all of the demo of the old kitchen. Did all of the rewiring, plumbing. We had the kitchen completely removed and ready for install. The next day, they called and told us that we were going to have to wait 3 weeks. That is 3 weeks with NO sink. No oven. NO dishwasher. It was terrible. Had I not already paid thousands of dollars, I would have dropped them then and there. They tried to raise the price on me three different times. EACH time I had to remind them that we had already signed a contract and that I had already paid 50%. I did NOT pay. Probably the worst thing of all is that they didn't get my cabinets done the way we asked. We asked for an antiqued glaze on the doors. What we got was what looks like a grey metal marker drawn on doors. We were told that it looks different because of creative differences. Absolutely ridiculous! At this point, my wife was so fed up with their delay and excuses, that she just accepted them. It looks good, but not what we asked for at all. Finally, with MANY little things that needed to be fixed after the main install, we could NOT get anyone to ever call us back. They would promise to get back. Never would. I had to call them 2 or 3 days after every time. Incredibly frustrating. Now that it is done, and my last payment is due, I can't get them to stop calling me. Very unprofessional. So much so that I do NOT recommend anyone go through these guys. Service: Kitchen cabinet installation

Bottom line up front, would I have this company bid for future work? Yes. Was it a great experience? No. It's complicated. We replaced replacing grade cabinets with their far better plywood base product. It took us 1 year from the time we contacted Jerry, our salesperson, until the time the project was finished. It took 5 months from our 50% down payment to getting cabinets installed. Mountain States earned our business because Jerry was the only one with ideas. Several competitors had no creativity and no ideas. Jerry mentioned that if we pushed our house out 6 feet it would have a dramatic effect. We had long wanted and planned to do that. We overestimated how much that would cost. With his information we chose to do the expansion as part of this project. Jerry was very helpful in giving us ideas and navigating the process that we were largely unfamiliar with. We were thankful for that. There were several issues as we got into the production and installation phase that were less that desirable. We were told it would take 2-3 months to have our cabinets produced and installed. The darker finish we used arrived at our site with a stain job with serious consistency and quality issues. It was clear that whoever stained at least a few of these fronts sometimes went against the grain leaving a distinct mismatch with surrounding doors. Other cabinets and fronts on our darker stained cabinets came from the factory with a variety of tones that were inconsistent with our sample chip. After several conversations with the company they ultimately agreed to "retone" the cabinets to be more consistent. Those retoning was satisfactory and most people will not see the underlying flaws. We still do because we know the history. Another issue we had to work with the company with was around the countertop. The countertop we chose at the time of placing our order and down payment shot up in price over the 5 months before they were ready to install. Two weeks before installation, Jerry told us we would have to go on our own for countertop because of the dramatic increase. After several discussions we mutually agreed to a second choice that was more expensive than our original choice and dramatically cheaper than our original choice. One area for improvement next time is for more specific documentation in a quote or bid. Our order or quote was very vague. If we end up doing business with them again I will make sure our quote has more details. I would imagine COVID was a major complication for Mountain States. A surge in demand for home improvement projects, crazy supply chain issues, spikes in prices like lumber, etc. All of those I believe contributed to the challenging experiences we had. At their best and perhaps in normal circumstances is the reason I would have them rebid again. Mountain States builds and installs very high-quality cabinets for a reasonable price - as far as cost/quality go I think Mountain States might be the best option in Utah speaking from personal experience and as an architect. I don't know if Mountain States does any commercial work, but for residential this is who I recommend to my own clients so that certainly says something about the overall perception. I always call Jerry Sims when it comes time for cabinets/recommendations from clients.

I've been putting off this review for about a year and a half. We have mixed feelings about our experience with Mountain States. Pros: We love all the options available within the package deal. We went with the cheapest finishes and still felt like they were high quality and mostly beautiful. If we asked Jerry to add the nice drawer dividers for silverware, glass in some of the uppers, a barn door detail on the end of the island, etc., he did at no extra cost. We love everything about our island. It turned out gorgeous, including the vertical v-groove shiplap and quartz countertop. We also have an older home with wonky floors and walls. Mauricio, our installer, was amazing and did an extremely excellent job of working with our crazy home. He was also very professional and respectful. We felt like we were getting our dream kitchen…almost… Cons: We asked Jerry what the turn around time was, and he said about 5 weeks. That same day, June 30th, we wrote him a check for 50%. We didn't have everything finished until September 15th, which was 11 weeks and a lot of nagging and a corner cut (see below). We ordered the standard 3 cm (about 1 1/8 in.) countertops. Our island was just that, but the surrounding countertops were the ¾ in. wrapped around (except on the windowsill which looks like just 3/4 in.) so it looks like 1 ½ in. So there are 3 different widths of countertops and honestly looks ridiculous. We feel cheated on that account. When we asked Jerry about it he said, “Because you wanted it sooner.” Well, we wanted what we ordered in the 5 weeks that he had talked about, not 11 weeks that it ended up to be, several of those weeks without a kitchen sink and no one giving us any answers about our countertops. It was extremely frustrating. It turned out the right thickness of countertops had been back ordered even though Jerry kept telling us we had all the time in the world before we needed to get the countertop ordered. We did NOT agree to have him switch the thickness on us. In addition, we wanted the cabinets on the perimeter to be white. Jerry talked us into a “barely barely off-white” that was “the most popular shade of white.” We keep beating ourselves up for not making him show us a swatch. It’s a mucky shade of white and we hate it. It looks putrid next to our white doors and sink. Finally, the pantry cabinets have a glass opening on the doors about 2/3 of the way up. For some strange reason they left the lower part natural wood inside, and the part above the glass opening was painted white inside. The problem was the line between them was higher than the glass opening. Jerry offered to have them remake the doors so the glass was smaller and the line wouldn't show, but we didn't want that small of an opening so we told him we would just deal with it. Bottom line, the cabinets are good quality for a good deal. However, don't count on any sort of a timeline, and make sure while working with a salesman to ask them every little detail of everything. Mountain States designed some lovely floating shelves and a two-person desk for our upstairs bedroom/now office! Excellent quality and craftsmanship, and the installer did amazing work. This room was completely transformed, and has been used regularly as a second home office. We also gave our kitchen a facelift by painting our old cabinets, and thanks to Mountain States, installing a new custom island (with warming drawer I might add!) and marble countertops. It went from ho hum to a show stopper room without breaking the bank. Thank you to Jerry who provided great design and customer service. Would highly recommend. Excellent quality cabinets, custom fit, precision install, fair price, great service. When we called for an estimate, Jerry Sims was available and showed up on time. He gave us a ton of great advice, 3-D color renderings, and a quote on the spot, without any funny stuff. No crazy upsells. No inflated estimates that had to be negotiated down with gimmicks or other nonsense. In fact, he made suggestions that would help keep the costs down. When we wanted to make changes, and more changes, Jerry was always patient and accommodating. When we wanted some unusual features, pull-outs, and other upgrades, he was again patient and accommodating. He suggested an appliance store and worked with them to design and size the cabinets appropriately for the appliances we selected. He coordinated with the slab yards where we picked out our granite, and with Rock Solid, who did an awesome job with the countertops and sink, including a waterfall edge, and granite backsplash on the range wall. Mauricio is not only the nicest person you will ever meet, he is a real craftsman. Jeff gave us the white glove treatment. He never tried to rationalize or invalidate any question or concern, no matter how minor or slight. He promised to take care of every detail to our satisfaction, and did. Jorge from Rock Solid also has a great team and provided excellent service. We would highly recommend Mountain States, Jerry, and team for your kitchen renovation.

We had already decided to go with another cabinet company when we dropped by Mountain States. Graham Spedding greeted us and showed us the quality of their cabinets. We loved the reclamation cabinets and Graham designed us a beautiful kitchen that came in several thousand dollars below our bid from the other company. The great thing with Mountain States is their price includes everything, hardware, install, delivery. They have even been willing to come back and do some additional trim work on our pantry, If your looking for that dream kitchen I would highly recommend Graham and Mountain States!
