Never been so offended in my life. I went in to buy a Coke. In my hand I had a small bag of things I had just bought at Wal-Mart. So before ringing up the soda, the manager asks to inspect the Walmart bag! Not only that, he was rude about it! I threw the Coke ay him and stormed out. If you want to be treated like a criminal ...come here.

Do not go to this Shell. I have been coming here for years but my inspection experience with Matthew Carr was horrible. He is the worst Mechanic. Run if you see him! He takes forever to inspect the car [I waited 2 hours for 3 cars ahead of me]. and then at the end he will fail for dirty headlight. Then when I asked if someone can clean; they said it will take hours. I went to different station around the corner, I passed the inspection in less than 15 mins. Go to MJC, Inc gas station instead for all your inspections..

I have a 20 year old car that gives me an array of issues, and I have had plenty since I moved up to Virginia two years ago. My first interaction with Bill and his team was when one of my headlights decided to go out and I was changing them myself and having trouble with loosening and removing the rusted screws that probably hadn't been touched for years. I stopped by their shop and asked for a bit of help and since then I have been coming to them. That first encounter with them was so kind and humble, and I never forgot it. Bill takes his time in explaining what's going on with my car, and is always prompt with giving me updates. Not to mention his prices are fair for the area and the work is always trustworthy. I've tried a few other mechanics since I've moved around the northern Virginia area when their shop wasn't always in reach. I've found that the other places I went were far more expensive, and not as transparent about the issues they found which made me uneasy. I usually would call Bill to go over what they told me. I have always felt comfortable in the diagnosis Bill has given me with what his team has found, and I really appreciate when he teaches me about my car, because even though it's old I love it. There is no other mechanic I have felt more easy going around and confident in.

Short version: Kamp Washington Shell charged me over $800 for an alternator because my car wouldn't start. A month later, it's dead again. They originally told me it was the alternator, and that they could do the job for around $550. Although that was pretty high, I told them to go ahead. When I picked the car up, though, I was handed a bill for $832. Needless to say, I expressed some unhappiness. The clerk couldn't get the service manager to help me, but he promised to have the service manager call me. Of course, that didn't happen. I called the service manager and told him I needed him to reduce the bill by $200. He bargained me down to a $150 reduction and a free "check" to make sure the car was working okay. A technician gave me a vague assurance that things were working fine, even though the amperage was slightly under what it should have been. Over the next few weeks, the car gradually began starting more slowly. Then yesterday, it just didn't start at all. I tried it again when the weather warmed up a bit...still nothing. I'm tempted to have the car towed back to them and demand they fix it, correctly this time, for free. But when it comes down to it, I have absolutely no faith in their competence or their honesty.

I went to this station for a vehicle inspection. After finding out I needed serious muffler work I had them do the work. Before getting the work done, I went to my regular shop and found out it would be pretty expensive. The mechanic at Kamp Washington was able to cut the bad portion off the muffler, leaving the catalytic converter in tact (which is the expensive part to repair) and weld the new portions back on. Saved me approximately $900. They were so friendly and professional that I just set up another repair. Feeling confident. Thank you Kamp Washington Shell.

I had problem with a wheel-bearing on my Nissan, the technician was able to work around my schedule and provide excellent service he went out of his way to give me a ride and made a suggestion on what to fix next. Now a day what count is a place where they treat you as part of their family and work on your car at a reasonable price. I recommend this place to anyone you can't go wrong, if you do they will fix it.

Inspector(who was a tall older white guy, not sure if he still works there) told me after he replaced my bearing that the noise was my tires and nothing was wrong with the bearing. Took it to Honda and they said the wheel bearing was put in backwards and caused my abs light to come on. Honda said it must have been an inspector who has no idea what hes doing to have put it in backwards. I went back to talk to him again without telling him I went to honda and asked if there was any way he put it in backwards by accident,. He said that it goes both ways and doesnt matter which way u put it in cause both sides are the same. If u look it up it seems like this is a common problem that stupid or inexperienced mechanics make. Instead of fixing my bearing he made it worse and broke my abs sensor cause he cant figure out how to install a wheel bearing on a civic. What a joke of a shop, better off doing it yourself. The owner, Chris, has had several chances to resolve the situation and has done nothing. Last time we spoke he even went so far as to say he doesn't remember me coming by. I know several of the other employees and they were always friendly and honest, but Chris and the tall white inspector seem to have no shame.

Today my my faith in the small business man has been restored. I went to for a car inspection and during the inspection, the Shell employee (Laty) noticed that one of the front head light was loose. He took 5 minutes made and minor adjustment and the head light was fixed. The inspection was thorough and quick. And I would recommend the Kamp Washington Shell to anyone who would need an inspection or work to their cars.

Stopped here for a state inspection on my van. I had my three young boys with me. I bought the older ones an ice cream to help them bide their time. Then the attendant came with a sucker for my toddler. How thoughtful! It was just what he needed to stay happy. Before we left he let my older kids have another candy for free. While there, I read GLOWING hand-written thank you notes from customers who had extensive repairs done here. One mentioned he had his repairs checked by a senior mechanic at a different shop. That mechanic said the repairs were very well done. Many notes mentioned that the prices were comparable or better than competitors. I'll be using them for my next repair job!
