The meats are always fresh with a longer “sell by” date than most military base commissaries. The fresh fruit didn’t look as good but generally the fruit at the Norfolk and Virginia Beach commissaries look better.

I'm not sure why others are saying they're out of stock on lots of items. I live less than five minutes from this store and I go here for the best prices on meat. Better than Walmart. And for the size of the meat section, it's a pretty good selection. The shelves are always stocked to bursting with items and the staff is EXTREMELY friendly. The new self serve line is great but you can still go to any of the cashiers to get checked out just as fast (and unlike Walmart or alot of other grocery stores) their registers are always manned up.

Clean, good selection, great prices. Not a big fan of the pressure by baggers to help you take your items to car if you grocery shop. They supposedly work for tips only. And self checkout is irritating at times. Fruits and veggies can sometimes be on its way to expiration, also, it never hurts to check dates for other items. Highly recommend.

I went there yesterday to pick up some items. As usual, many of the items I was shopping for were moved or out of stock. I used the self checkout lanes and after scanning $65 worth of items with 3 to go, the machine locked up. Approx 20 minutes were spent by the ID checker and duty manager trying to get it to work. Finally they suggested I move to a different register and rescan everything. No thanks! Today I went to Kroger and found everything well marked, machines that worked and friendly workers to assist if anything went wrong. The prices were not out of line and the speed of getting through made it a pleasure. Other than chicken and some cold cuts, I will be shopping at Kroger from now on. The management could learn something from the outside stores. As an aside, most of the employees are friendly and helpful, It's just management that is lacking.

This place is huge! Great deals and clearance items. The only downside is my size (women's small) never ends up in the clearance bin, but that's not the store's fault. We love shopping at the commissary because not only are items cheaper , but they take manufacturers' coupons and it's tax free!
