This place had so much potential. A varied menu. Good menu. And provided the most outrageous lack of service I have ever encountered in a great while Waitress was extraordinarily rude by all definition. Clearly we were disturbing her. Just nasty attitude WHEN she bothered to be there at all! We couldn't even get water refills. Add to the vulgar lack of any hospitality or manners on the wait staff, you had 2 shrieking kids in there that continued to let out such abysmal, loud, nerve shattering screeches, we could barely hear each other. I will make it a point to tell other visitors to Matthews County to stay clear of your establishment. NEVER AGAIN.

This was our first time eating there. We had the fried shrimp dinner. Price 23.99 12 shrimp fries coleslaw. The food was good and the service was great. Little pricey for me.

Just bad all around. It is a very cool looking, unique place. However, service was non-existent. I would go so far as to say our server was angry, and maybe she was, but we didn’t know or have anything to do with it. She didn’t ever ask us if we wanted any additional water, and when we asked for our server to come back (by asking another) she showed up several minutes later. I don’t know how overwhelmed they could have been as there were empty seats and a growing line. I had the chicken and dumplings combo special. The sandwich was good, but the dumplings was a salty brew of something gross.

We ate at Richardson Cafe for the first time this evening and the waitress and the food were very good. The restaurant was very busy but the wait time was very good and the food was delivered hot in a very timely way. We will be returning!!!!!!

Super friendly and wonderful comfort food. Nice decor, the restaurant does have a nice 50s decor and appears to be in a former Rexall drug store. Definitely worth a visit. I don’t normally do dessert but the ice cream that everyone kept ordering looked incredible and it was. We will be back next time we are in Mathews.

Was very excited to eat here. My mom has a house in Mathews, but I live out of town. My mom said the food and service were really good. Came with my whole family; mom, brother, sister in law, two nephews and my son. Sat down around 6:30 and ordered shortly after. Our food did not come until after 8pm. Other tables arrived after us, got their food and left before our food arrived. Waitress never checked on us, let us know there was a hold up, or refilled our drinks. A manager?, I guess because they never identified themselves, came and apologized and refilled our drinks for us, but it was still 30-45 min after that that our food arrived. Would have left but we had hungry kids and thought the food couldn't be that far from arriving. They offered to give us dessert, but who wants to stay any longer at a restaurant they've already been at for two hours? My brother and his family were leaving to go back to Richmond after dinner and now their departure was delayed significantly. The hot dog meals for the kids were basically inedible, the crab on my brother's hamburger was cold, and I had onion rings that still had the skin of the onion on them. We tried to be patient and understanding of short staffing, but this was beyond comprehension. After we finished our meal our waitress tried to apologize, but it was more of an excuse with the words "it is what it is" coming out of her mouth. Not in the service industry it isn't. Nothing was comped and it seemed they could really care less about our terrible experience. We have many friends in the area that frequent Richardson's. We'll be sure to share our story with them. What a missed service recovery opportunity.

The food was very good, the server friendly and helpful and the restaurant was as clean as any I've seen. We were also very pleased with the prices. Not inexpensive, but you definitely get your money's worth. The Chesapeake Burger was very good and very large and my wife's Grilled Chicken Melt was cooked just well and very good. Beware! We ordered the Cheese Fries as an appetizer and the serving was so large it could have been our dinner! They were so good we brought most of them home for our son. There is no excuse to leave this restaurant hungry, so enjoy!

Love this atmosphere. The food was good and well-priced, the sides were not typical, and the desserts were worth their weight in gold. The waitresses were great and the food came out quickly. We are from out of town and this place was recommended. Glad we followed that advice!
