If I could leave -5 star rating I would, after working all summer long 6 days a week, 15 hour days. I finally got some time off, my mother and I decided to go down to port townsend for the day to spend the day together and hangout. We came across this mercantile store. Because it was colder than what we dressed for we had decided to go look at the stores jackets. While we were browsing the jackets/looking in the mirror. It got extremely crowded in the women’s section so we took the jackets we were considering purchasing to the men’s section to see if they had other sizing options and a free mirror. We noticed that one of the employees was following us around the store, she proceeds to approach me and ask if she can take the jacket that I’m holding to hang it back up. I told her no, it was an option for me to buy. I even emphasized that I was having a difficult time finding sizes that fit me properly and if I was going to spend good money on a jacket I wanted it to fit right. She looked at me and glared, walked away and proceeded to hide behind clothing racks and follow us around. Out of nowhere my mother is approached by this taller older gentlemen and he proceeds to harass her to take her shirt she was going to purchase. At that point, we were super uncomfortable my mother handed the employee (the gentlemen) the item due to the fact of us needing to use the ladies room, as we are using the ladies room, the door opens abundantly and low and behold it’s the female employee yelling “did any of you ladies sneak or bring any merchandise into the bathroom??” I begin to answer her and said “no, we did not.” As we are exiting the bathroom, she is waiting outside the restroom door for us holding a hanger in the air, begins to harass us about what happened to the shirt that was on the hanger. My mother replies “I gave it to gentlemen to hold, while we used the restroom” she turned and walked away. I glanced over and said “we are not stealing anything, please leave us alone” she walks away and we just grab our previous items and checked out. At this point we are humiliated from being followed around the store, into THE BATHROOM and being questioned over and over. We have never stolen anything in our lives, this whole experience was rude, dehumanizing and extremely inappropriate & disrespectful. Amazing merchandise but horrible employees. Will not return. Overly embarrassed like I stated previously.

Quimper has a little bit of everything from local artists. It's a great place to go to pick up unique gifts for friends and family, or to get a little something for yourself. I love their home decor, the kitchen items are always unique and fun.

I changed to 4 stars because they actually acknowledged my review, thank you!! Great place, we always go here every time we visit PT. Clothing prices a bit high (why only 4 stars) but good variety of of all kinds of things. I have purchased many gifts here & will continue to do so.

This is the place to go when you need high- quality basics. Unlike most stores in downtown Port Townsend, which tend to be very tourist-oriented, Quimper Mercantile has an amazing array of things for people who live in Port Townsend. Shoes, underwear, kitchen supplies, art supplies, camping equipment, clothing for men and women. The prices are reasonable and the selection is excellent for a store this size. It's also community-owned and you can get a 5% discount if you become a member (It's free to join). A gem hidden in plain sight -- highly recommended.

I'm a local and I've been in just about every store in town. I know they are geared toward tourist... But sometimes we return folks need things too! Gifts or for ourselves. While I do like coming in your store, it's a bit spendy got some items. The women's clothing only caters to petite or junior sizes. Nothing in Women's, like sizes 2x and up. I have asked this many times. And now days people don't have _200 yo spend on leggings or other articles of clothing. It would be nice to see some really good sales in there like half off. Mostly it's 10% or 20% off of something that's $150. Anyway you need some bigger sizes of clothing. When I came in there once just very recently you had five people in the store and I was the only customer. I like your store there's some fun stuff but your prices are way too high and people in town can't afford that. ..

This place has it all! And I couldn't be more thankful since when I was packing, I forgot extra pants and during the hike back from the glass beach it rained...strike that poured on us. I found reasonably priced comfy clothes so I could shower and be dry back at the hotel. The customer service here is outstanding! They have a little bit of everything so there is something for everyone and the prices are pretty decent!
