I got to the post office 6 minutes before they closed and it was closed, and now I have over 50 packages that I’ll be stuck with for a week because I am swamped with work. Do better, and don’t be lazy.

This Post Office must be one of the worst in the USA. And don't get me wrong: All postal clerks there are very nice, polite and helpful. But the entire office is woefully understaffed. It has been in disarray for years. The place is sloppy, untidy. Parcel tumbling on the floor. Clerks must write down tracking numbers with pencil on little scraps of paper. Office organization is dreadful. Waiting times for more than 30 minutes are normal. The waiting lines are frequently 10-20 people deep. Unfortunately, the Albany Post Office is some kind of hub. Rerouted mail gets sent here. Helpless customers MUST come here to pick it up. Several years ago, it is true, this post office lost the ashes of a deceased family member, which had been shipped in special delivery format just for that from out-of state. We had to track down the urn for weeks. Now, with Covid still active, this post-office is barely able to function. Every time, I enter, I feel like a helpless hostage. If you, dear reader, have a chance - - - avoid this office like the plague and run to other mail services in the area. Plus, pay their clerks better salaries and staff the operation so that it CAN work!!

Great location. Ive never had a problem here. Staff have been friendly and I drop of 5-10 packages a week at check in bia prepaid so I skip the line and never had an issue.

I recommend not using post office to send international, I lost time, money and I still haven't found my package. Nobody knows in this location say that they are not responsible for international shipments. To Who do I ask for my package? very unpleasant to pay and have no results.

I’m not sure why this post office has such a low rating, it is like a dream compared to the Berkeley ones. The clerks are always friendly and efficient. I have always been able to get in and out in 5 minutes when mailing packages.

Posted hours are 9 to 5. By 10:15 no one had opened up. At some point a worker appeared behind the counter, but would not acknowledge the 8 or 9 people patiently waiting. Eventually someone knocked and the worker shouted "10 minutes!" So I went to the branch on shattuck and they were very nice and helpful.

Not sure why there’s such a low rating but I have always had a positive experience here. Several friendly postal workers here even in an understaffed environment. There are long lines from time to time but it generally moves quickly. Morning times seem to be the best time to handle your postal needs.

Carrier did not attempt to deliver package, instead she just put the “attempted delivery” pink slip into my mailbox instead. Saw it with my own eyes, wish I’d yelled at her that I was there to receive it. If only I’d realized this was something carriers did. Then the slip that was left to pick up the package was in-correct because apparently packages are never available at the post office until after noon. The slip said after 9am, so I go to the office and the person there tells me they don’t get packages until noon, so I drive all the way back home then drive back to the office after 12pm, speak to the same person, who acts surprised that I came back, and they tell me they don’t have any packages, and I need to call the actual post office with the packages or come back on monday after noon to pick up the package. Tried 10 times to call the number provided, and got a very un-friendly person telling me all the packages were already sent out, and if I didn’t get it to call again on Monday and ask for Rob. Everything about this process displayed incompetence, laziness, dishonesty, and complete failure to do their job. I am still unable to get my package delivered all because the carrier failed to try to deliver it, then lied about it. I will be sure to avoid using USPS as much as I possibly can, especially for package delivery.
