I only give this place a 5 star because the cheese garlic bread is the best tasting garlic bread out in the bay area. If you want to have drinks here and your a newbie don't waste your time the bartenders are O.g. they don't offer assistance, you can literally stand in front of that counter and if the bartender don't know you he won't even acknowledge you. The Bar is small the food is good lot's of parking space and the waitress taking orders is also nice.

First time here tonight. We came based off of a friend’s recommendation. The service and atmosphere is nice. The portions and price are decent. I’m not a fan of the food though. It was bland, but that’s because I have a bad habit of eating too salty. We had a margaritas, clam chowder, Cesar salad, chicken Alfredo, and the stuff pork chop.

Food was pretty good service was good. It's kinda an odd vibe. Half upscale half bar. Wasn't sure what to expect walking in. But I wasn't disappointed. I'd eat there again for sure. Good eats for a good price.

From the moment you arrive in that restaurant the waiters give you an agreeable feeling. Very friendly stuff, it is a happy restaurant to to go out with buddies or with your date. delicious cooking, creative chief cook and stuff, honest cost and generous service. Warmly recommended.

A low-key, traditional place with good booze at reasonable prices and a pretty darn good Italian restaurant. I give it a fiver and recommend that you make it a "must do" stop next time you find yourself with a few moments to spare in El Sobrante.

I saw a negative review from “straight cash money” about food and have talked with the owner. I challenge the story. I don’t think it’s true and why didn’t they document it? If you read the story it doesn’t sound true. Excellent authentic NY food makes me feel at home. Great people. Great drinks. I come here about once a month and I do it because I get great care and incredible food. I go out of my way for it. This is the kind of East Coast comfy place I wish there were more of. Try the homemade gnocchi.

Next to my Mom's kitchen, PJ's is my wife's and my favorite place to relax and dine! The key is to take off your coat of stress at the door, r-e-l-a-x, and take a seat at a table. Request a bottle of fairly-priced good-quality wine or an inexpensive stiff drink from the bar. Scan the "quaint" hand-written sheet of daily specials; on that decree lies what your chef Umberto is excited to prepare for you today, beyond the run of the mill pabum on the main menu. I've heard what makes McDonald's famous is the ability to serve exactly the same quality garbage every day, everywhere on the planet. But if you have faith in a real chef, to prepare what is _really_ fresh and delicious that day only, you don't need a menu. Our best meals at PJs have been at "the chef's choice". Soup or salad, your choice. The salad is a "digestif", lettuce and such, reminding me of a line from "Analyze This!", since the meal will be real and not dietetic. PJ's serves the kind of dinner I will fast all day for, one's "last meal", a meal without a tomorrow, and if I awake to one, then I shall eat light, tomorrow. The soup is a meal in itself were it in a bowl; but in a cup it is just a teaser: my wife usually orders a quart to go, to relish over the next few days. She doesn't even ask what the soup is anymore, just "and a quart to go, please, if there is enough", it's all good. Chioppino (in season), Pork Osso Bucco (Osso Anything), Homemade Ravioli (drool all over and fry my keyboard), Rosettias (which must mean cheesy-good in Italian), Scallops (Umberto, Mom could give you a tip on these, and you then may die happy), Various Fresh Fish (Snapper, Petrale sole, Swordfish, a Trout that must be at the end of the Rainbow), and Spaghetti with Meatballs (the Spaghetti is but the sacred nativity to nestle the Holy Meatballs to your table). Ultimately, were I to have an alien facehugger pried from my comatose form, cooked well and served back to me on board the _Nostromo_, in a "What Should Have Happened" justice moment, I would will that it be prepared by Umberto at PJ's (attached photo. Actually, that is their rack of lamb; and no, you can't have a riblet, I already ate it). Buon Appetito! Mike
