I want to thank Safeway for taking care of my concerns. More than 2-3 weeks ago I gave them 1 Star and instead of trying to argue they took care of my concerns. I felt very safe shopping there. I did take note that a real security guard was there today. He was not like the fake who said he was head of security and he’s dressed in plain clothes. I have not seen him since. The real security guard was very observant and gave everyone space to do their shopping and unlike the fake he did not try to interfere with customers shopping. The employees were very helpful too. I got what I needed and everything was very clean. The produce dept had the best produce in Modesto when comparing to other big names in the valley. I walked out of the other two because of unsightly produce. Great job Safeway, please keep it up. Thank you!

I wanted to share my review on my experience with customer service today. I recently went to this Safeway for their delicious sandwiches and meal prepped snacks by the entrance. However the cashier who checked me out today, “Irene” was far from pleasant. For starters I was not greeted she just rang me up, and I had to ask what my total was because she didn’t say it to me just stood there. While I proceeded to give her my change, she did give me my cash back and that was that. However the bagger “Angel” I believe that was his name didn’t ask if I wanted my item bagged or not. I had to reached down on the belt and grab my sandwich where I almost forgot it, because it wasn’t handed to me just sitting there. After the whole interaction, I went to my car and I felt that customer service situation was so unacceptable and uncomfortable, after I just spent my money at this store. I proceeded to get out my car and asked the security guard to speak a manager. I happened to speak to the front end manager Debbie who was very pleasant and understanding and apologized for my visit. And I want to say thank you to her because we need more managers who will take the time to hear a customers side and make sure their feelings are valid. I will still return for the great sandwiches and hopefully the customer services as a collective is much better. -B

The manager makes their team happy everyone is always smiling. I get discounts on fruits all the time here and the store is so clean especially considering its age in modesto. I'd say stop here for anything and everything even a hot or cold ready meal. Wow is this an ad no not at all but safeway in modesto has their prices right and amazing employees I love modesto safeway. I met the manager once and they were busy but made sure my needs were met and was such a nice person.

First of all the bakery lady was rude to my wife they have the Jurassic park cake we tried to preorder 3 weeks ahead for my son's party. And told us rude they didn't have the character and I insisted that it won't be for a couple of weeks she responded back rudely saying it wouldn't be in and said snobby and rolled her eyes . The boy working the register had to apologize for her behalf. Also I Haven't been here for a while the prices are ridiculously expensive. For a bag of family chips was 6.99. I suggest this store for one or two things if your in a hurry but not for grocery shopping.

Clean and friendly store every visit. The staff is always friendly the other customers 🙄 I guess people forgot how to count because multiple times customers end up in the express lane with way more items than they should have but I guess it's alright and happens too often. Great deli, fresh produce and bug bakery. Fridays are great with additional specials. Oops, I shouldn't have shared 😬

Customer service is worthless here..I called to see about Western Union service and they said in about 30 minutes when the lady that’s in charge of the money service comes back from lunch. So I come in about 35 minutes later and she says it’s not working. After I just called and they said it was. They love to lie here! Been a customer here for over 9 years. Not coming back here again. I guess they just hire anyone from the streets now a days !

So I ordered a Christmas themed cake for a Christmas graduation party, order was placed on Dec 14th for pick up on Dec 24th. They had a few Christmas cakes and so I asked for a cake similar to their display but as a 1/2 sheet since the display ones were 1/4 sheet or round cakes, and I needed it for about 60 people. I wanted red, green, and yellow on it, but what I got was a blue cake. $45.99 for that. I was nor happy with it at all. Luckily, I have an aunt that loves to bake and she had Christmas themed cake decorations to fix the cake. I still don't like the blue, but it looks better now. First pic is what we were given. Second is what we added onto it.

Beautiful produce shelving, stocking, presentation. I spoke to the produce woman that was placing more items in the cubbies and told her this was an awesome job. It was nice to see fresh and full product going up. I also frequented the butcher/meat department...assistance was amazing. I asked the gentleman butcher a question regarding a dish I prepare regularly. ITALIAN lasagne. The question was should I buy lean or a more fatty beef. He answered with absolute correctness and told me WHY. I think this was an amazing experience. Worth the try. Time of visit is relevant. I was there between 1100 and 1200 hours.
