I went to the CSU Health and Medical Center after experiencing vomiting and nausea. They gave me some tests and said they couldn't rule anything out and prescribed me some fiber and laxatives. The next day, I went back because I started throwing up liquid, and they just gave me an anti-nausea medication, which at that point was only preventing me from throwing up liquid. I told them I hadn't eaten in multiple days both times I showed up and they didn't even seem to care. They told me it might just be constipation. I told some random person my symptoms and they advised me it could be my gall bladder or appendix, and I should've gone to the hospital days ago. I went to the hospital and my blood sugar was so low I was at a risk of a seizure. Sure enough, they checked and I had appendicitis. I was literally starting to starve to death because my body was refusing to eat. I was taken to surgery within the hour. I am shocked and disgusted that the doctors here so blatantly ignored me and dismissed me. I told them I was eating *literally nothing* and they didn't seem concerned at all. When I told the same thing to the hospital, they made my case an emergency almost immediately. Please, please, please do not go to this place if you're experiencing severe symptoms, they are SO dismissive. They didn't even give me a CT scan and only gave me an X-ray, then said they only found "constipation" and seemed to treat it as the cause rather than a side effect. So neglectful.

Please don’t ever go here if you want mental health resources. The lady I saw told me to read a book and do research on some person if I wanted to help myself. It felt like I had to get in and out of there as quick as possible and they did not care about what I was actually dealing with.

Despite many student reviews being one or two stars, I have had nothing but incredible experiences with the CSU Health Network. As a student with a chronic illness, I have had doctors and healthcare professionals here go above and beyond. I am a subscriber to the student supplemental health insurance and get a lot of benefits from that, having gotten flu shots, eye exams, physical therapy, doctor's visits, therapy and lab work done here. I have had great experiences with the walk-in clinic for students, but usually call ahead to check availability. Nurses have been helpful and professional and I appreciate the follow-up I always get from doctors when I have an issue. The pharmacy is quick and had been able to help me troubleshoot insurance issues multiple times.

The staff are nice people but really careless and unable to communicate. I had a follow up appointment today at 12:30, at least that’s what my provider said. I show up at 12:30 only for one of the front desk worker to tell me that my appointment is at 1:45 because the lab is closed for their lunch (12-1). I leave and come back at 1:45 only for ANOTHER front desk worker to tell me, my appointment was for 12:45. There was no apology for them giving me the wrong information twice. I had to wait to be seen, which I didn’t mind, but when I finally got to the lab for my blood tests, I was told the test isn’t offered here and I have to get it done at the hospital. The staff sent me one a wild goose chase just to see me for 2 minuetes to tell me to go to the hospital. I made time for this today, under the impression that I would get my blood labs done today. Not another day. I had to cancel other important plans to work around these people, when the whole point of appointments is to fit your schedule. The fact is, this all could’ve been avoided if I was told what tests need to be done and WHERE I need to go, over email. I wanted to know what was wrong with me, not go on a scavenger hunt. Next time, when a patient sets an appointment, communicate with them and tell them if the tests that are needed are offered. I don’t live on campus. A 30 minute appointment has now taken almost 2 hours just to not get anything done. It is frustrating how inconvenient you guys are. You are supposed to be there for students, but instead you make us run around and give us the wrong information. Do better.

Most of my many, many experiences with doctors here over the past 4+ years have been good or great (very highly recommend Jill Vesty especially for LGBTQ+ students). However, dealing with the admin people can be very frustrating. I was charged $194 for seeing a doctor with Covid symptoms in the peak of omicron (and I ended up in ICU for Covid less than year before that) because my appointment coincided with my “luxury trip” (to see my family first time after 2 years) despite me having Covid symptoms. Students, always check with insurance / billing if you will be charged for something, don’t disclose information to doctors unless they are absolutely necessary and be very careful in general. Shame that institution with good and attentive doctors has such a bad leadership and procedures.

I used the walk in clinic at CSU today. Normally I have had fair experiences with this practice, but today was completely different. The two stars today go directly to the check in staff and my nurse, who actually seemed concerned about my health and were willing to listen and make sure I was getting the correct care. Please know, I understand the physician was the only one on staff that day, and I can completely understand she was busy. But that does not take away the fact that I was ill and wanted a provider to give me a checkup and talk about next steps. After waiting for a while the provider rushes in and apologized for the long wait—totally understandable. However, after explaining my symptoms she barely checked me for anything and sent me on my way. I felt completely disregarded and unheard by the one person who is supposed to help me better care for myself or give advice on what to do next. I get you were understaffed, but that does not give you any reason to disregard my worry and concern for my health and well being in that moment. That was my time with

If it were possible to give zero stars I would. I'm not typically the kind of person to leave reviews as I manage a retail storefront and I understand there is so much that goes into running a competent business. That being said, I have used this pharmacy and clinic for the past three years out of no other option at the time. I have consistently been denied access to portals for making appointments based on my physical ability(I am deaf and they only allow call appointments for the second story general physicians), they have given me the wrong dose of medication causing extreme adverse effects on two occasions, and the pharmacy staff is never on the same page. To the same tune with the language access, I have noted in my file that I am deaf however when I use gestures to show staff that I cannot hear and use my phone to type, it still takes a solid 5 minutes of me shaking my head no and tapping my ear pointing to my phone note that I am deaf before they will write items down to communicate with me. and thats when i'm lucky enough that the staff member doesnt remove their mask and try to force me to lipread which is completely unreliable and unreasonable in a medical setting. I enjoy the physicians and nurses as individuals greatly, however the service(particularly in pharmacy), the cost, and lack of access will fuel me to deter every single person i can from their facilities.

The most incompetent medical center I have ever been to. Colorado is supposed to be one of the best states in the country for healthcare, and the CSU Health and Medical Center reflects the opposite. If you are on any kind of medication prior to going here, they will try to do everything in their power to complicate the process of getting your prescriptions. It is a full-day event to try and get into contact with these people, consisting of having to do their job for them. The communication is horrendous and the workers are incredibly rude. The stress of dealing with this medical center will make you need to be prescribed more medications to deal with the stress of dealing with these people. Avoid at all costs. The facility is beautiful but it is full of people who have absolutely no clue what they're doing and only care about COVID-related healthcare.

Good gynecologist but the CSU health insurance is a scam. They outsource ALL of their labs. So that means you are paying out-of-pocket for any routine labs. I went in for a simple check, was assured that my insurance would cover the labs, then got hit with a $400 bill. Go for medicaid.

I can't speak to the primary care, but Dr. Bontadelli and the entire Optometry department is so SO wonderful! They all take the time needed to address your needs and provide support (shoutout to Rachel who encouraged me through over an hour of learning to put contacts in) and have great patient recall. The only reason I took a star off was for a few experiences with very curt and/or disorganized reception staff. Having worked in healthcare for three years as support staff, I have disagreed with the way things such as needed reschedules and lack of attention to detail when scheduling have been handled. I was scheduled under another patient with the same name because the scheduler didn't check DOB, and thus had to wait an additional two weeks for a counseling intake with only two day's notice. Ultimately I've always had my needs met, even if it takes a little patience on my part.
