Attentive and exceptional waitstaff, great food and portions for decent prices, and I have a new favorite. The crispy shrimp with lemon sauce is one I cannot recommend enough! Definitely coming back in the future!

Probably the best Chinese restaurant in town. As a Chinese, Lao Sze Chuan is definitely the place I go the most often for Chinese food with my friends. The taste of the classical dishes are really the same as in China. In Chinese we say 有那味儿~ 味儿正~ The environment is also good. This place would not let you down! Highly recommend!

If you don't know what proper Chinese food is, you will after here. This restaurant by the owners lives up to the namesake. Any bad rating here is just ignorance. Recommendation is to come with many people so you can sample many dishes. If sweet and sour chicken is what you're looking for this isn't the place for you.

What a nice restaurant! There's legit like 500 menu items and every single one I tried tasted amazing. I've gone back many times to try different things and I've never been disappointed. I recommend the lemon shrimp and the peking style eggplant, but like I said it's hard to go wrong. The service is also very good. I had family visiting in town and our server took a group photo of us. You know when you ask someone to take a photo of your family and they take the effort to get multiple shots, seek out good lighting and camera angles, etc? It was like that! Awesome job :)

Amazing food, great service, great portions. Prices are a little too high for what it is, but the quality is pretty good. I would say a couple if dollars cheaper on most plates would put it a more acceptable price range, but that my opinion and is subject. Overall, definitely a great eat.

According to me, this is the best Chinese restaurant in the whole Mid-west!! Frankly speaking, I’m not a fan the way American Chinese restaurants cook their food. Especially in the Midwest, the Chinese Food sucks. But there is an oasis in the desert. This restaurant is no doubt the 'bestest' Chinese Restaurant of Illinois. The Chef Special Dry Chilly Chicken is one of the best dishes they serve. You may also try their fried rice and noodles. If you don’t like too much salt, you may ask them beforehand so they can reduce it.

I read all these raving reviews about the Chef's Special Dry Chilli Chicken, so that's what I got. I honestly wasn't that impressed to be honest. I know it's called the Dry Chilli Chicken dish, but it was very very dry and I swear, 60% of the food was just dried red chilli peppers. Definitely would've preferred a greater chicken to chilli ratio. And maybe some liquid? Do not plan to go back.

an amazing place for chinese food. big portions of high quality food and their dining space is beautiful. we got orange beef, hunan chinese cabbage, salt & pepper short ribs and salted egg tofu. everything tasted so yummy and service was great! would recommend this to everyone :)
