Stay away from this place. They charged us $400 for a cleaning fee. We cleaned the car before we returned it. It wasn't dirty. Even if they thought it was, $400 is excessive. They didn't even notify us that they were going to hit our card with a $400 fee. I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau and Consumer Reports. No wonder they're going bankrupt with shady business practices like this.

The only hiccup was we set up a reservation about 30 minutes prior to arrival through Hertz national website only to find out this location did not have any cars available. This did not affect me since we were returning a car and getting another one with a better rate. The rep just kept us in the same car and we got the better rate. I would advise calling the location after you reserve the car and make sure they have the car rent. I would return to rent from this location in the future.

When I preorder a car for 1 day of renting, it did not state that I would get a credit check when I use my debt card and then get denied! And I couldn't use my credit card because I didn't have enough room for the 200.. this company is mess up and didn't tell you everything you need to know to make this a easy service. I rented a car from there and accidentally locked the keys in the car (it’s a 2019 vehicle...what cars still lock with keys in them?!). Anyway, I called to see if they had a spare key or could do anything to help. Nope. Just told me to call Hertz roadside assistance. After being on hold outside in 90 degree weather for OVER AN HOUR, someone finally answered. She asked if I was in a safe location, I said yes, and SHE HUNG UP ON ME! I called back and waited for almost an hour again for someone to answer. I remembered that the car had OnStar. I called OnStar. They needed a pin to remotely open doors. Called Hertz to get the pin and they said they couldn’t because corporate handled that, there’s no way to help me and to call roadside assistance. Didn’t offer and wouldn’t call corporate to get the pin. I explained to them that I had been on the phone with roadside assistance for over two hours at that point, I had been standing outside in the 90 degrees whether for that duration now and I still had yet to receive any help. All the person at the desk could say was, “well, sorry. Call roadside assistance.” I ended up calling OnStar again and thankfully the lady there took pity on me and sent me help within twenty minutes. All the while, still on hold with Hertz roadside assistance for over two and a half hours with absolutely no end of holding in sight. I will never use this company again. Thanks for nothing.

I was told that I was not allowed to use my Debit card to rent because after a credit check I didn't meet Hertz's standards. What? My credit is almost 700 and I've never had a problem using my debit card anywhere, ever. I know 700 is not a perfect credit score but it should be more than adequate to rent an economy car for two days while my car is in the shop getting fixed. They want a credit card. I don't use credit cards. I prefer my bank debit card. Oh well, I went on my way. They would rather let their cars sit on the lot, undriven, than be rented by a responsible adult. I don't rent cars very often, but if I ever need to in the future...it will not be at Hertz. I'm sorry I don't meet your strict standards Hertz. And guess what, you don't meet my standards. Your company sucks.

Wanted to rent a midsize vehicle for a weekend road trip. I was on the fence about renting vs taking my own vehicle, but I booked the rental and went to pick it up 20minutes before my initial scheduled time of 17:00. I was informed my vehicle was not here because the person who rented it had not returned it, yet. While I sat there somewhat confused and a little shocked my mind started to wander... What condition is this vehicle going to be return in? Are they even going to be able to clean it? I waited until 16:55, the car was not yet returned and I decided to take my own vehicle. There is no way I could expect someone to reasonably clean a vehicle in less than 5 minutes. If the previous driver had pets or smoked in the car, did I want to deal with that for 5 days? I just didn't want to deal with it.

Whoever answered the phone there this morning was very rude. I had rented the car from a different location in California and had to drop my car off after hours. I was just calling to make sure my key was recovered from inside the drop box because I had no envelope to put the key inside. The inside of the drop box says to place your enevelope with the key inside the box so I assumed I was suppose to be given an envelope to return the car. She was very rude and condescending, apparently you need absolutely no customer service skills to work for Hertz. I will not rent from this location or any other of the Hertz locations in the future and I’ll be sure to let my friends and family know about my experience with the service I received in dekalb.

I was so dissatisfied with the service I received. The young lady who assisted me had poor customer service skills. I rented a family van because I planned a weekend trip to Chicago for my daughter's birthday. When I got into the van it was FILTHY! I swear it was human hair, animal hair, dirt, dust and it had a foul odor. When I pointed out the filth, the Rep was very nonchalant in her response trying to convince me the car was cleaned out. My daughter was so excited and was looking forward to her weekend of fun so I couldn't refuse the vehicle without any other alternative but I did take pictures of that mess and I will be reaching out to a Manager, Monday morning to address my concerns. This experience was totally unacceptable! I had to buy car freshener to diffuse the foul smell, I didnt even use the trunk because it was animal hair everywhere. Although, the vehicle didn't break down on me, the van kept warning me the car was due for an oil change(took a picture of that too). I'll be back to post another review if my experience with the Manager doesn't go well

I rented a car from this location from 4pm on Thursday, 6/15 until 4pm on Saturday, 6/18 -- exactly three days. I discovered that Hertz had overcharged me for the rental by over $100. I called this location first to rectify the situation. The employee I spoke with told me that since I had returned the car on a Saturday after the office closed at 1pm that I was charged for two extra days and the car was checked in on Monday, 6/20 instead of on Saturday, 6/18 when I returned it. I explained that my rental agreement was until 4pm on Saturday. The employee told me that it was Hertz policy to charge customers for extra days if a car is returned after the time the office closes, regardless of the return time and date specified on the rental agreement. I told the employee that no one at Hertz had alerted me of this at the time I picked up the vehicle. The employee gave me an 800 number to call and told me they probably would not help me. I spent another 20 minutes on the phone with a representative over the 800 number. This dispute is still under investigation. I am very dissatisfied not only with the overcharge but also the lack of concern for the situation by the employee at this location whom I spoke with over the phone and the fact that, if this is indeed Hertz policy, it was not made clear when I picked up the car.

The employee told me that it was Hertz policy to charge customers for extra days if a car is returned after the time the office closes, regardless of the return time and date specified on the rental agreement. I told the employee that no one at Hertz had alerted me of this at the time I picked up the vehicle. The employee gave me an 800 number to call and told me they probably would not help me. I spent another 20 minutes on the phone with a representative over the 800 number. This dispute is still under investigation. I am very dissatisfied not only with the overcharge but also the lack of concern for the situation by the employee at this location whom I spoke with over the phone and the fact that, if this is indeed Hertz policy, it was not made clear when I picked up the car.

I rented a car from this location from 4pm on Thursday, 6/15 until 4pm on Saturday, 6/18 -- exactly three days. I discovered that Hertz had overcharged me for the rental by over $100. I called this location first to rectify the situation. The employee I spoke with told me that since I had returned the car on a Saturday after the office closed at 1pm that I was charged for two extra days and the car was checked in on Monday, 6/20 instead of on Saturday, 6/18 when I returned it. I explained that my rental agreement was until 4pm on Saturday.
