Best hardware store in New Orleans, Louisiana (LA) 2024

It is what followed the unfortunate incident that deserves the 5 star rating! Here is the buzz cut... I placed an order for 60 pieces of 16' specialty pine. with Michael the sales person who has been with the company for many years, To my dismay, the order was not fulfilled as directed by the retail manager. I will normally rate them a one star for this action except the staff and the young man Matt, who is one of the owner's, deserves accolades for their hard work and commitment to the Bywater & Marigny communities. Matt's brother in-law, Mark contacted me directly, as an owners representative, to resolve the issue. The Owners I believe wish to improve the property and to grow the business. Matt who is at the yard daily is an amazing young man who is commendable for his dedication to his father's legend. It takes grit to admit fault and the staff and owners took the matter to heart and are trying to turn the experience into a way to improve customer service at the yard, I placed the order with a competitor of theirs, which is a reminder that we can all improve and do better. I will trust the staff at Wilson Bourg Lumber will work harder for all of us in the community and live up to the five star rating given to them today! ~B

I’ve been wanting to go to this location for at least 6 to 8 months, but due to auto immune issues and COVID, I waited. But as I walked in yesterday, I laughingly told the Customer Service rep that it was my first time, and she took the time (rare!) to explain the layout of the store & asked what I was hoping to find. As I walked around, you’ll see the treasures both architecture, creative and practical or for the DYI self-contractor because of a storm…this is your place!! There’s even a workroom available!! So…great cause, friendly customer service and a whole building for creative growth & inspiration?? What’s not to love?? Highly Recommend!! ~Stephanie

This place is horrible and they don't need the business because they turn it down left and right with pathetic excuses. I work in the Louisiana film industry and have been born and raised here my entire life, so we try to give our business to locally owned (mom and pop) type businesses as to help our local economy but unfortunately I will not endorse spending any money at Eddie's hardware on downman rd as they don't treat the customer the way a customer should be treated. So it looks like I'm on the hunt for another locally owned and operated business but worst case scenario I will go to a big box store if it comes to it unfortunately. ~michael
