Having three pets as established patients with this practice, I have to say I was very disappointed when I called today to make an appointment for my rabbit and was told Dr. Greene had left the practice. She was the only vet who could treat exotics and so far there is no replacement for her, so unfortunately they wouldn’t be able to see my rabbit. Exotic vets are hard to find in this area so I asked for a referral and was given phone numbers for a few other practices, only one of which is actually accepting new clients and has a four-week wait for an appointment. It was recommended I take him to the emergency vet in Purcellville if he needs immediate care. Unfortunately, I’m dealing with a geriatric rabbit who doesn’t travel well and may not even survive that trip should I have to make it.
While I understand many business are facing staffing shortages, I also feel that at a minimum, the practice could have been proactive in notifying established patients of Dr. Greene’s departure. At least then I could have taken steps to get my rabbit established with another vet before he actually got sick and needed care. Instead, they’ve left me and my poor senior rabbit high and dry to suffer several weeks with a potential eye infection while we wait for an appointment at another practice. ~Jessica
