Awesome outdoor gear consignment shop. Lots of great finds for backpacking, hiking, climbing, and they also have bikes and boats. Easy to sell your things there too. Great staff.

Gear Hut IS the next best thing since sliced bread, except that it’s way better than sliced bread, obv. Go to Gear Hut to find outdoor gear and treasures in good-to-great shape for a heck of a discount! Some of the cool stuff I’ve purchased over the years include heated ski boots, a nice down jacket, a hiking water pack, and various outdoor clothing items. I always find stuff to be very reasonably priced and a great selection of options. Definitely support this local, family run business when you’re shopping for outdoor gear and equipment in Reno!

I absolutely love this store and I really miss it! I moved out of town and this will be a for sure stop when I go visit. The employees and owners are all very knowledgeable and helpful they make you feel very comfortable when you are in there. I have consigned prolly over 20+ items and they make the process very easy. They have a really good selection of outdoor goodies and it’s at great affordable prices.

Whenever people ask me about my gear I brag about getting it used from my favorite little local gear shop. I stop in about once a month to see what new gear has been brought in and I’ve accumulated countless discounted gently used pieces of gear over the years that have enabled me to start or expand SO many hobbies on a budget. I’ve also brought in a lot of my own gear that I’ve upgraded or just don’t use and it’s fun to earn back some money with zero effort of meeting a random stranger from Facebook or Craigslist. A bonus is that their instagram presence is fun to watch and shop on periodically.

The absolute BEST! I never leave empty handed! I was so happy to find Gear Hut before a Grand Canyon trip. Now it's a mandatory stop when I'm in Reno. Oh, and the stuff is FABULOUS. Highly recommend.

Xlnt selection of clothing, boots, trunks, climbing gear and more. Prices were better than many online stores. High quality, great condition inventory. Highly recommend a stop. If you have surplus gear gathering dust, this is your place. No hassling with selling online, one stop & done.

I found the Gear Hut on line, and had a chance to contact them from out east to get a gift certificate for a friend who was on her way from Massachusetts to Reno for a summer project in the nearby back country. I spoke with Kelly, who offered so much more than a gift certificate’s worth of local advice and support in finding what the Gear Hut did not have in stock. Happy, knowledgeable, confident and kind! Could not have hoped for a better customer experience than working with this person. If one’s first impressions count as motivation, then I will look forward to visiting Reno and stopping in at the Gear Hut.
