Got a surf lesson for my son. Grey was great!!! Very patient, all around nice guy! It didn't take very long before my son was up on the board and surfing. It was a really nice couple of hours to watch. I highly recommend! Thank you Grey, from Mike and family.

My son Thomas aged 13 took his very first surf lesson with Grey at HIB. Grey truly inspired Thomas. Having never surfed or skated Grey had Thomas surfing within about an hour of the two hour lesson. Thomas loved every minute of the lesson. I was very impressed with Grey's knowledge and love for the ocean and the sport and Thomas has a new love for surfing and can't wait to go again. Thank you Gray and HIB for making my son's experience such a great one!

We stop by here every year, and we are never disappointed! This particular year we visited during our son’s bday week. On the way out of town we made this one of our last stops, and so glad we did! When we hit the skateboards, my husband and I looked at one another and I went to get my son from the car. He picked out the board of his dreams, and the price was an excellent deal for a product that is sold out everywhere else! Thank you, HIB, for always having what we need, even before we knew we needed it. 👍🏻

Fantastic experience! Rented 3 surf boards for a week and went back to change board size multiple times because the weather and waves changed throughout the week. They were super relaxed and had no problem letting us choose any board to take out. Highly recommend!

Love this surf shop. I rented paddle boards for a day (24 hours) for $40 a board, and the staff helped me load them on my cars roof rack and provided straps. When I returned them they were great conversationalists and we chatted for a bit. Plus they have a good inventory of shirts and other surfing things. And best of all the store had a puppy German Shepard running around 🤗

I asked Kevin, the shop owner, to get me set up with private surf lessons. We had to wait a few days to get good conditions. But today was certainly worth it. Chris is a fantastic instructor! He had me up on the board for the first time soon after we got there. He taught me about paddling out and how to control the board in the wave. The lesson board was really nice and stable for the first time up. I highly recommend Kevin, Chris and Hatteras Island Boardsports!
