If you want poor service, with an attitude, this is your place. Recently went in with a prepaid return and they refused to scan the QR code. They said they never saw that before... I asked them to scan it and they refused. I went to another UPS store and they immediately helped me, scanned the code, and processed my return. While it was an unusual QR code they were determined to help. The montclair location was rude and belligerent. We will never ever go back. We will be sure to tell others about this experience as well.

This is the first time I’m writing Google review. I figured it would be necessary to express the horrible experience I had at this store. I never thought it would be possible to have a bad experience at a UPS store until I came here. I should’ve read the reviews before coming here. I didn’t realize I wasn’t the only one who had such a negative experience. They were not helpful at all and were trying to charge me $5/box to tape Amazon returns even though the person right before me (& after) were not charged for that service. Definitely felt discriminating. I tried to ask for my receipts and the lady (might be the manager) had the rudest attitude and even rolled her eyes. She went into the trash, dig up some paper and gave it to me saying you can go through whatever is yours. I was so shocked- just the nastiest behavior! Had the worst customer service ever. I doubt they read these reviews otherwise their service would have improved. Such a shame. Especially since this is Montclair village. As a customer, if you are reading this, please please PLEASE go to another UPS store- somewhere that will not just handle your package with care but also you!

Update 06/15/22: Showed up at 8:20am and the doors were locked and the lights were off. They supposedly open at 8am. I only went to this location because I needed to drop off a package quickly before I leave town and it’s the closest location to me. So irritating. Never open on time and the internet has been down at least three times. So frustrating. I won’t be visiting this location again.

Where to begin...I am visiting my daughter in Montclair for a few days & wanted to send some extra purchases to my home in Idaho. Went into the Montclair UPS at 9:00 on April 19, 2022, and approached the counter, I told the clerk, (Tine) that I wanted to purchase a box to put these items in...she was rude from the first word out of her mouth, the items were in one medium bag & I asked her what size box might fit them. In a surley manner she said, “I don’t know” offered absolutely no assistance whatsoever, & from there it got appreciably worse! I bought a roll of tape & the box, moved to the end of the counter to assemble my box, (no one else in there), & she informed me in a most obnoxious manner that I had to go outside& could not tape the box inside the store! I expressed a bit of shock at the way I was being treated, & then she really verbally accosted me.....”get out of here, wrap outside”, why don’t you go elsewhere, why don’t you go back where you came from?, etc”. This continued after I paid for box & roll of tape, & as I was moving to the hallway to wrap box, she yelled “wrap the box out there & then I WON’T SEND IT!” I said “you won’t send it?” A couple of times, each time Tine vociferously screamed. “No, I won’t send it”! I asked for her managers name & number, she made up a name & gave me the store number, I’m sure knowing I wouldn’t reach the manager who is not there most of the time. I’m 84 years old and do not recall ever, ever being treated this way in a business of any type, particularly in a “service”? Business. Never again will I step in that useless place! Nor will my Montclair family! I can see why there are 20 or more terrible reviews!!! Unless you are aching to be abused, go over to the Piedmont Ave location for UPS!

Very slow m (and somewhat abrupt) service and don’t bother making an appointment either. They don’t honor an appointment system at all even though the website allows you to make an appt. You still wait in the long line. I see why it gets 2.1 stars on Google. If I could click zero stars I would.

Avoid avoid avoid avoid. This store has had its ups and downs. I couldn't stand it for a long time. I went back to try again and found a few nice people doing their best behind the counter And jeesh ...it is so convenient to have a UPS store right in Montclair village. But I would say 70% of the time they are just awful. Drive 5 minutes to Redwood Road and find a far superior shop. There is a great one also on Telegraph ave I agree with other reviewer - this store does nothing without a price tag, are slow and not service oriented. The manager should not be in the service business at all. Totally rude /not interested in finding solutions for her customers. All she needed to do was pull a few things out of three boxes and put them into one... Per Amazon's policy. She refused/ didn't think of it. Just kept repeating that I needed to go get something else from Amazon's page. Opened three sentences with the words, "you need to..." Like talking to a wall. Last year I asked to print a PDF of my taxes and they wanted $2.50 per page. Per page!! My jaw dropped in disbelief and I even asked a few times to be sure I got price right. I like to support business owners and our local neighborhood. But this one isn't worth the headache when there are so many others working smarter and better.

On 12/11/21 I went to the UPS location to purchase a return label to the USDA and a self addressed return label to myself. I am taking my dog out of the country and my vet has to file a certificate with the USDA electronically. They need a code off of the label to send the information to the USDA. My vet, in Monclair Village, instructed me to purchase the labels. When I went to the Montclair UPS location I was told that they could not release the USDA label to me, but they could release my return label to the USDA.. I walked back to the vet’s office to let them know the problem. They insisted that they do this all the time, and their customers go to this location and sent me back. On my second trip I was again told that they would not release the label to me and I had to give the package to them to mail. Again I tell my veterinarian. This time my vet’s assistant walked down to the location with me for a 3rd trip to explain what was needed. She said exactly what I had told them. They released the label to her. Interestingly enough the vet’s assistant is white. I’m black. When I asked why it was not OK to give me the label but it was OK to give the USDA the label to return the certificate to me, the UPS person said, “because THEY are the government.“. Do not use this location. They make up rules based on how they feel about a customer. I will be filing a formal complaint against the worker at this location and the location with the proper authorities.

I am reluctantly reviewing this location because everyone has bad days, even me but this looks like a trend. The three staff are not only incompetent, rude, and unhelpful but it seems they are intentionally sabotaging customers. A week ago I returned a package from Amazon to this UPS store location. The woman (manager) printed the label and had the package shipped.... BACK to me! Amazon required the $1,100 purchase to be returned by July 18, 2021. Since it shipped back to me it hasn’t made it in time! I went in today with the package to ask what could be done. The rude manager took the package and explained to her coworker that “somebody” else messed up the address. (It was her!) then said she couldn’t give me a receipt and to call Amazon and show them the picture of the package as proof. I reluctantly left and called Amazon. They told me sorry nothing they can do, go back to the UPS store and ask them for help. When I returned the manager dismissed me right away and had me stand off to the side so she could help other customers. I begged for the owners info, I asked for reimbursement, I asked for my package that was sitting on the floor, but she refused everything saying all she is willing to do is give my number to the owner who’s out of the country. I pleaded with her for half an hour. Being so frustrated I stood in front of the door so that I was the only customer in the store to be helped. She couldn’t dismiss me now. Not my finest judgement, I was out of ideas. I now apologize to the other inconvenienced customers. I begged for any response besides “I am not doing anything” and asked her to simply return the package or provide the owners info or reimburse me or call the police so we can resolve this. For over an hour we stood like this! The police arrived and she promptly provided the package. Did we need to ruin everyone’s day to do the very thing I asked for? Was it worth it? Before the owner responds with either “sorry for the inconvenience” and “we will do better” or tries to put this on me; remember the final resolution here was to give the package worth $1,100 back to me! Which I asked for repeatedly. By the looks of it (as recently as today another review posted) this “manager” has acted this way to other customers. It may be time for her to find another career, enough people have posted the same behavior. This rude, dismissive, and sabotaging behavior has been demonstrated for years (evident by many other reviews) so please keep the repetitive response. You now have my phone number, call me and convince me you will make this right! Only then will this review be edited and the public will see your response for the hollow attempt to salvage the situation that it is. UPDATED: 11/15/2021: Comical and disappointing their reviews are at 2 stars and every now and then a glowing review pops up, it makes you wonder whos putting the positive review in if negative experiences are so prevalent. Sooo many different people have such bad experiences. Time to overhaul and change your prospective on a proper business model.

People work here are the rudest. She started speaking with me loudly because I only wanted to print a few pages, and she printed the whole document. I asked her about it and she said I will print all and you can select the pages you want. Once I did that, she got upset because I only picked 2 pages to pay. Later, I told her that her behavior is not acceptable - she said I can complain to the manager (she does not care clearly). Worst service!

Horrible, rude customer service. Went in to drop off pre-paid items first thing in the morning and the clerk said the computers were down and wouldn't be able to print a receipt for an hour. I asked if she could give me a written receipt and she refused, and after I asked why not, she said that I was asking too many questions about "too many facts." Is it too much to ask for proof my items have been received by the store and are in process to ship? Isn't this a shipping business? Okay if computer is down try to workaround but don't insult the customer for asking questions about shipping their items. Obviously business owner does not care if their business does well or if the neighborhood likes them. Also this is not my first experience with these incompetent and obnoxious franchise owners. Shame on me for going back and trying them. Do not give them your business.
