The lady that took care of us wasn’t in the best of moods. We are driving to Vail, snow expected as it should be, and rented a mini van. She told us it wasn’t a 4x4, which is no problem, there are lots of mini vans driving in the snow with no problem at all. We had lots of trouble sliding with the conditions of the dated tires, no traction at all. When I called her telling our problem she answered, I’ve told you, it wasn’t a 4x4. And that wasn’t the problem! The problem is the tires condition!! Sleek tires!! She told me to drive back, to Eagle, and she could change my van, but the road conditions made that really dangerous for us and my family. Very bad experience, still have to drive back on Monday, putting at risk my whole family. Left and right tire conditions! AVIS, putting my whole family at risk!! This was the answer Avis had for me as a customer:

Everyone was kind and friendly, best of all we got upgraded to a Denali! The rental process from start to finish was smooth and easy, especially since we needed two car seats. We definitely will be using Avis again.

No surprises. Avis gave us exactly what we asked for, on time, clean and ready to go. All at a great price. When we arrived in Vail, CO, the roads were dry and no snow. The Toyota Camry seemed like a good choice. The agent tried to get us to upgrade to an SUV. By the end of the week there was a foot of fresh snow! We should have listened!

I lost my car keys and the agency had no duplicate, so I need to get my car towed by calling Avis Road Assistance. I WAIT for 7H (from 12 pm to 7 pm) AT THE CAR AND NOBODY SHOWED UP! I asked for a uber to go back home and they were not even able to place the order for that when I could do and I then did it on my own. I called the service all the time long and every time they told me this would be the last time, and you will be receiving the towing soon. It happens at least 20 times, they were keeping asking for the same info. I don't recommend Avis to anybody and I am going to make a claim for the awful service received.

update: I was contacted by the Avis Social Media Costumer Service team and offered an apology and a fair adjustment to my invoice. Thanks for your prompt response. Made a pre-paid reservation in September for a large SUV for use from Dec 30th to Jan 10. Needed to change arrival date to Jan 2nd due to Covid-19 traveling testing requirements. Was told there were no Large SUV´s available for those dates, even though mine was reserved. Escalated thru contact center, Preffered desk and Gypsum Avis. Was told to accept standard SUV or lose pre-paid fee. As usual, once I arrived at the counter was told that they did have ample availability of large and extra large SUV’s at an upgrade price of 75 or 100 dollars per day. Through this stunt I was charged 1070 dollars extra for the same vehicle and less dates than my original reservation. I will be escalating and expect a refund of extra charges.

Even though cars were available, I was forced to wait more than one hour. The clerk stated that they there short of cars. However, since I was at a small airport, I could actually see all of the rental cars in the lot. For one hour, only one car left the lot. And, the car that I was ultimately assigned was there the entire time.

Searched the web for a great deal at Eagle Vail airport. Never used Avis there before. Great deal on a full size pickup. Easy pick up and drop off. Seamless. Great experience. Will rent again next year on my family ski trip

Very easy pick-up, nice clean car that ran great for 10 days through the mountains. Drop-off was also easy, but could use with one more clear sign directing to Avis-specific spots. Also note that there is a bit of a walk to the terminal from drop-off--it was fine in the lovely weather I had, but probably wouldn't have been as pleasant with precipitation or bitter cold!
