ZERO STARS if I could. Save yourself and just don’t. Have now tried twice and will absolutely NEVER again. You stand in line forever because they only have 3 workers while about 15 other stations sit empty, once you finally get up there you find out they over booked their vehicles and regardless if you had a vehicle reserved months in advance they refuse to give anybody refunds because of their mess so it forces you to wait for literal hours until a vehicle shows up that you can take. (Our group waited 4 hours this time. Sitting in the airport with no vehicle to go anywhere and no idea when we’d have one). And you dare not to bring your vehicle back with ANY sand in it because they charge you almost $100 extra when you bring it back. (RENTED AT A BEACH LOCATION). Customer services is absolutely one of the worst I’ve experienced, ever. They could care less about valuing their customers, refuse to work with you on anything, over charge on everything. They are running a total scheme by booking cars for “cheaper” but then refusing to give refunds when they overbook, which they stay over booked, and over charging on every little thing after they have your card information. pay whatever amount more and go with a different company. This company has NO business being in business.

WHERE IS THE ZERO STAR?!!! Reservation in place for over a month. On arrival there’s 3 reps helping people when they have 15 computer stations. The line is a mile long. After all the frustration and I finally make it to the counter they tell me the wait for the cars are 1-3 HOURS!!!!! Stuck without an option because it was a prepaid reservation I have no choice but to wait. But I won’t be doing business with Dollar or Thrift again. Non-existent management! This company is so terribly managed. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! They should have been refunding everyone their money!

While the staff were sympathetic and nice, I cannot say that makes up for the fact they didn't have any cars. AT ALL. I understand being out of cars for people walking up, but we've had our reservation for six months. When we arrived to get our car, they told us that it would be a 4 hour wait until we MIGHT get a car. When I checked an hour later they said it would now be a 5 hour wait and asked if we could pick up the car tomorrow. I don't know why someone would think that a person getting a rental car from the airport would have easy travel access to and from the airport. There was also no email or phone call letting us know this is something that "[they've] been struggling with for a while."

I booked a vehicle to pick up at this location from the fort Lauderdale Airport. Had a little bit of a difficult time trying to locate the rental car facility but as soon as we locate it the transportation bus we were on our way. We located a representative immediately when we found the desk who instructed us to go outside and select a vehicle. All the workers we encountered were great and the vehicle was fairly new and clean.

They did not have my reserved and prepaid car available when I got there. However, after waiting for more than an hour, they were able to get me a car. It was a free upgrade to a convertible, and the manager made things right, giving me a free tank of gas. Ask for the free gas, as they are reasonable people, and I would be happy to work with them again.

Cannot recommend. I booked a compact car for a 2pm pickup. When I arrived at a little after 2pm, they told me it would be a 2 hour wait for a compact. Instead the manager said he could give me a full size SUV for an additional $500. Really feels like a scam to upsell me a more expensive car. Be careful here.

STAY AWAY! As we were checking in we overheard a couple arguing about how they had booked a car online that now wasn't there... we should have ran away then. I booked online for $160 (AAA rate including fees) and was told my total was $561. I pulled up my quote for $160 and he rolled his eyes and said, "that's if you don't want any insurance, which would be absolutely crazy" his tone was aggressive and in my option the only crazy thing would be spending $561 on a 2.5 day rental car. He said he would refund us and we would be charged the $160 plus the deposit. I checked my bank account later that day and I was in fact charged $561. I called customer service and they said yes we were charged that much and would most likely be refunded when we returned the car. $9.99 added to each of the 4 tolls we passed by as well. The man checking us in tried upselling us for a fancier car and did not want to take no for an answer... Do not recommend.

I would definitely use this car rental again and again we ordered our vehicle online and they let us upgrade once we got to the terminal for a larger SUV for all our luggage thank goodness nice and clean and friendly service and fair prices thank you Dollar car rental thrifty

Stay away!!! You will wait hours. No staff, old technology and way overbooked. Read the other reviews. Spend a few more bucks if you have to. After hearing people saying they had been in line for MORE than 2 hours I walked over to Sixt who had 3x the employees and secured a car in under 15 minutes with no prior reservation and was on the road. For basically the identical cost. Absurd. Dollar should be ashamed. Hundreds of people spending their entire day standing in line just to pickup something they already paid for. HIRE PEOPLE or rent fewer cars... it isn't that hard.
