I went to Avis to return my car in Fort Lauderdale and there was no on there and someone was there already waiting. So no idea what that was all about. Having one person at the site and doing everything is horrible.

I was in need of a rental to travel, I have never used this company but gave it a chance with rentals being low in availability in my area. It was unlimited miles as seen in the contract. It was to be brought back to same location which ofcourse i would be doing. I drove the vehicle 700 miles and about 200 miles later it was pulling to the side alot. I checked tires everything seemed fine except it was getting worse and worse. The check engine light came on and then the oil maintenance not long after that. When arriving i saw oil leaking and felt uncomfortable driving it back and contacted avis the following day upon waking up and let them know what was happening. They said to exchange it and gave me an address. First address closed due to covid. Second address listed on that location window wasnt far drove there also closed until friday for covid. I called to exchange at another and final location in my area. They had NO VEHICLE Available. So i called customer support at avis again. They said the fee would be wavied for return in an unauthorized location since they could not provide an exchange car. This left me to find a whole other rental to get back 700 miles. I left the car with them and the dadeland avis told me no worries the fee will not be charged and they will take care of everything and sorry. I was glad it was over until i was charged 2787.64!!!! 1600 dollars in miles when clearly i had unlimited miles on my contract and another 600 for unauthorized drop?! I called and spoke for an hour sending my contract and all the info and pictures provided here and was given a case number and told that the bill would be fixed and updated within 5 days again apologizing to me for the inconvenience. Today the charge is still on my card and they charged 43 MORE dollars. I called and they said my claim that was already approved was denied and nothing was wrong with the car. When i clearly have the proof posted here, witnesses and a video recording of the avis in dadeland telling me no worries the fee wont be charged and apologizing numerous times. (not posting via attorney telling me to hold for court purposes) The claim was approved the 10th when i called according to the avis, and case number he gave me, today im told they are resending claim give it 3 days. Well they have 3 days to fix this or i have to contact my bank and my attorney gives me the go ahead to sue for the trouble they have caused, the fraud fees and reimbursement for attorney fees. BE VERY CAREFUL WHEN USING AVIS!!! EVERY PERSON I HAVE SPOKE TO REGARDING ANYTHING HAS LIED TO ME INTENTIONALLY.

Somehow during my booking process Avis added my old corporate rental number I no longer can use back to my reservation. I literally removed it during the reservation process and the system put it back in. I only found out three days before when I got a reminder that noted I need to bring documentation. I called the rental counter and the gentleman answering told me we could work something out when I got there. Turns out "work something out" meant $250 MORE for a four day rental on top of Avis' inflated holiday price I'd booked at. What a way to treat a customer who rented with you guys for corporate work on a weekly basis for years! Or any human being given that your system did this. On top of it, the desk agent was terribly rude. He'd called me earlier in the day to confirm my reservation and when I walked in his first action was to chastise me for not returning his call.

I’ve rented 4 different cars at this location in 2021. All were clean and smelled like brand new. Also, Damien deserves a recognition because he manages all the operation by himself. Totally recommended.

Be careful renting a car at this Dadeland avis branch. Very unethical and unprofessional attitude. I reserved a standard SUV for an upcoming vacation. I called this AVIS agency a day prior to my pick up asking if the booking was received and a car was available. Damien, the office manager, assured me that my rental was going to be ready. I went to pick up the rental just before this office, Dadeland branch, closing. Damien wanted me to sign the car report before me inspecting the car (red flag). Essentially, this report documents any irregularities of the car (i.e. dents, scratches, fuel..etc). I told him I wanted to inspect the car before signing any paper. He told me were the car was without giving me the keys. I went to check the car and took a video and pictures of the car. I was not able to get in the car. I went back to the office, signed the paperwork and went to run some errands. When I eventually was able to enter the vehicle, as soon as I opened the door, an intense, unavoidable smell of cigarette hit my nose. In order to check in the car from the previous renter, Damien (later on he told me that he was tge one checking in that car) MUST have noticed the cigarette smell but decided to rent the car anyway hoping that the smell was going unnoticed. I had to leave for my 13hrs drive at 3am the next day and this branch was now closed. The only branch open was the one at the Miami airport but they didnt have any available cars until the next day. I had to go to the airport the next day and wait for a car to be available, wasting a day of my vacation because Damien, the manager and responsible for the AVIS Dadeland branch office decided to rent to me a car that undoubtedly was used by a smoker previously. At the Miami airport they wanted me to pay for smoking-cleaning-removal fee $850. Eventually the branch manager there said that he put a note on that rental agreement saying that I returned the car because of the smell of smoke. I really hope they are not going to charge me for that smoke fee. I rented a different vehicle and after a week returned it to the Dadeland location. Damien was there and I told me that he really screwed me over. He denied the car smelling like smoke...and did not even apologize. I definitely would not recommend this location. I would never go back again. Be careful when renting here.

I was exceptionally impressed by the respect, empathy, and friendliness the owner Damien at Avis showed me. It did not matter what time of day or day of the week it was, in multiple occasions he willingly worked with me and helped me get the proper vehicle I needed for my trips. Every vehicle I’ve gotten from him has been well maintained and their interiors very clean. He truly has his customer’s best interests in mind. I have no complaints whatsoever. I will definitely continue returning.

Have had great experiences with Avis in the past over other rental companies. Had a drive to make up north in the morning and made a reservation two weeks in advance. Arrived 30 minutes before my time, just to be sure, and was told a car wouldn't be available for three hours, and that THAT wasn't even a certainty. Did not receive any sort of assistance and was pretty much left on my own to find another means despite setting the reservation and calling ahead and arriving early, and I had to leave Miami within an hour to make my appointment. It's a small location, so that may have been an issue, but should have let me know ahead by some means of communication.
