14 Best grocery store in San Diego, California (CA) 2024

This Vons is mostly clean and well stocked. The Deli and Bakery were attentive and friendly. Produce had A few too many yellow bananas and apple quality issues, but overall good. The meat dept was well stocked and appealing. Grocery was great. The frozen food aisle needs serious attention. The presentation of filthy, absorbent socks and dirty floors begs the question of why sky high priced refrigeration service companies can't seem to figure out routine case defrost draining and 30yr old plumbing issues. CALL THEM BACK! ~Jeff

I always love coming to this location. Staff is friendly and they love food recommendations. They always have plenty of food and lots. I love buying my Starbucks coffee bags here! ~Alyssa

I just wanted to send some Money using Western Union and received the worst service and customer care from the Operations Manager. Absolutely rude and didn’t even care to help. I requested the name of the Store Manager and said something line Nolberto Sanchez. I hope Mr. Sanchez reads this and gets back to me for training purposes of their own employees. Mr. Kevin was a witness as he was helping at the self checkouts. I don’t have the name of the Operations Manager but I did take pictures that I can share with the Store Manager to identify this individual. No customer should be treated badly. I trust VONS will contact me to fix this. It's been more than 2 weeks and other than automatic responses I have not heard back from Store Manager to offer an explanation of the mistreatment I received. Here now I'm posting the picture of the individual who apparently was in a bad mood that day. ~Juan-Jose

This Vons is always clean and full of variety. I also use their curbside pickup frequently and have to day that their service is the absolute best. They are always the absolute fastest and most reliable curbside service. Not to mention how courteous and outstanding their employees are. This is definitely my favorite Vons store! ~Jane

This Vons can be very busy. Only been here a few times but parking can be tough. The store seems clean overall and well-stocked. There are only 4 self-checkout kiosks. ~Hiep

They have EVERYTHING. I usually look for higher quality organic food as well as Primal cooking ingredients. I found everything i was looking for and more. All of their produce is in good condition so no bruising or expired food. Be prepared to see some higher than your normal grocery store prices, but it's well worth it. ~Cecilia

I had a very pleasant experience with curbside pickup, ordering from the app yesterday and getting it this morning. They sent my order with a store employee right to the door of my vehicle, checked my verification code and put it right where I asked. Great customer service with a smile and thanks for shopping with us today! ~Tom

This is your typical vons. It has everything you would expect. It's very clean and the employees are very helpful and friendly. The gentleman that worked in the meat Department is so help and nice. He always has new suggestions on what to make for dinner. I would give this place an extra star if I could just for the fact that they have a starbucks inside. Nice, clean, great selection of items. I used to live nearby 3 years ago, and prices seem to be more reasonable now, considering quality you are getting. Glad that hot and salad bars are back, and sushi selection is amazing now. Did I mention sweets? 😁 Additional parking is on the roof. People should stop complaining about it. ~LYBE

Trader Joe’s is a good location for organic or natural groceries. It is priced more reasonable compared to Sprouts or other grocery stores I have seen in the area. California prices are definitely higher than Texas prices. But if you want organic natural foods, I would recommend Trader Joe’s over the others. They have a good selection of flowers when you first walk in. Decent wine selection can also be found. They have a lot of their own brand food and all that I have tried has been very good. ~Luke
