FNBO - First National Bank of Omaha

My son who is a young Black male went in to cash his payroll check and for some reason THIS branch felt that they had to call and verify the check. There are good hard working Black young men out here and should not have to be profiled when trying to cash what they worked so hard to get. I called the bank and talk to someone, who was very polite, but that’s called good customer service, because I had read about another young Black male who went through the same thing at a bank and instead of calling the employer the bank called the police because the young man was standing up for his self, upset that he was being treated this way, and the sad part was that when the police came the young man lost his life for NO reason!!!! It’s never been a problem at any other branch. Something has to change. This is not fair at all and quite humiliating to say the least. ~Grown

FNBO - First National Bank of Omaha

Awful experience. I have only been using this branch for about 6 months since moving to the area, but upon my most recent visit they elected to start charging a fee to withdraw funds and claiming this has always been the policy of the bank. This has NEVER been something I've had to pay at this bank in the previous 6 months that I've banked there or at any previous FNBO I've banked with. Additionally the head teller misgendered me to another teller while she was asking for clarifications on a minor error. Don't go this branch. Happy Pride month! Great way to make me feel welcomed! ~Evelynn

Bank of the West

May 23, 2022 Stopped by to cash a check that was written on them. After this visit I don't regret leaving this bank. The bank looks kind of sticky and the staff was aloof. I'm banking at Five Points Bank @ 90th & Arbor. Five Points treats me great with free monthly movies, popcorn, and pop and a Christmas dinner. These benefits are for the Golden Club members (55 and up). May 2018 I used this branch as my main account for a long time plus I had five or six mortgages with them. But, as time went by and the bank morphed into Bank of the West and banking minimums increased and courtesy decreased I moved on to another bank altogether. Finally I got a letter from them saying that the safety deposit box that I had been using for free for the last couple of decades was being upgraded to not for free. This is their right and if they want safety deposit box rental fees that's fine. But it is my right to sever the last of my ties to BOW which I have done. ~Ray

Core Bank

Update! After posting this review they sent me a letter closing my account and returning a very small amount of money. Avoid them. This bank takes advantage of single mothers, charging over $1000 in bank fees over the last 3 months for the same charges. It is impossible for me to catch up, as they keep charging me for the same mistake I made back in October. They have no compassion for individuals, they refuse to help me. Branch manager "Mark" and the assistant manager "Sarah" do not answer phone calls or return them. If a call is returned at all it is several days later. If I attempt to visit the bank to speak to them in person, they are conveniently gone to lunch, or on a break, each time I try. This is the worst customer service I have ever recieved. I have been a customer for more years than I can remember and there was a time when I absolutely loved this local bank. You could connect with a real person if help was needed and they would actually help you! They also reply to reviews stating they will reach out to you and then they never actually do. ~Nicole

Bank of the West

They closed our business account while we were traveling out the country. All the transactions on those days were gone without anyreason. It was thousand dollars. They won’t do anything unless we open a new account with them. I would never ever work with them again. I did a big mistake when choose Bank of the West over First National Bank. They loose my business. Now I have to try get all my money back in 1 day, otherwise, all those money will give back to the customers. Also, the manager is even worse. They are nice to you when you are new to them, they won’t help you if anything happens. All they tell is ‘I can not do anything right now’. Worst customer service ever ever. I won’t recommend any business to Bank of the West. ~Nguyen

Bank of the West

If I wasn't a long standing customer of BOTW, this branch would make me leave. The last time I went, it took 25 minutes for the teller to cash a check, and deposit some cash into my account. It got to the point where I had to actually call in and see what the problem was, the teller was confused (by cashing a check? or depositing cash? seems like fairly normal teller tasks to me). The visit prior to that, I needed something notarized and when the teller requested assistance, the guy just sat on the another emplyee's desk laughing and said "soon" or something to that extent. He did come over and notarize the document I needed, but didn't even talk to me while doing so. The visit prior to that, I went to deposit money into an estate account to comply with their deposit requirements, and teller deposited into the wrong account (again, after calling and asking if there was an issue because it was taking SO LONG). Complete lack of service at this branch. I understand being short staffed, but when there isn't even another person in line, there really is no excuse on why things are taking 20+ minutes for a simple task. Thankfully, this isn't my regular branch, but it's right next to my work so it's convenient for me. Now that their hours keep changing though, not sure it's worth them even being open. ~Emily
