12 Best dollar store in Columbia, South Carolina (SC) 2024

Store is always a mess, shelves are empty, stuff all over the floor, palettes of stuff to put away. HOWEVER, I think they are short staffed which could affect cleanliness. It is my favorite dollar store to shop at. The staff are friendly and helpful. ~Erin

Store is always a little messy but the employees are nice. Most importantly they have a good selection of Pokemon Cards just about all the time 👌 ~Sylvester

This Dollar general is by far the cleanest dollar general I believe I have ever walked into. The new store manager her name is Vonyetta, is very professional and polite! The workers are very helpful! I would make that 15-20 minute trip just to this dollar general and it's service than the one that is literally 4 minutes away from me. I know there has been bad reviews or photos but since she has started managing this location I see a drastic difference. ~Carlinda

Great location! Fair prices. Lovely staff and good service. The only reason I am giving them 4 out of 5 stars is because the store aisles can be very confusing. One minute you need toiletries in one aisle and then you have to go all the way to the other side of the store for toilet paper. I know I shouldn’t complain and that’s not much to complain about but it would just make life a bit easier so I can go in get all of my stuff and get out with no complaints. ~Brandy

I just left this location (6/21/21 @ 12:41pm) and I must say...I was thoroughly impressed by the way the two young ladies Imani & Shonda handled the check situation with the senior citizen! (lady with red sweater & glasses) They obviously had not handled this type of transaction before BUT... they BOTH were patient & kind, did not rush the elderly customer, and did not become rude or frustrated. ( I was the next customer in line) These ladies represented themselves & Family Dollar exceptionally! Thank you again Shonda & Imani for your patience & professionalism!!! Store#00254 ~Tia

Employees doesn't have any recognition of what the rules of the job is. No one is more incompetent in sales than this store. Buy something that never work they say oh well I'm glad you bought it....we cant return it. Yall gave it to me broken. I worked hard for my money. And Employee just says oh well and a shrug. Sad store. Sad employees. Need more training. ~ritalia

I pulled into the parking lot at 8pm and sat until 8:11pm without being allowed in the store. As the parking lot filled and customers came and went no one was allowed in. Apparently the manager on duty decided she wasn't opening the doors or admitting customers until she had her lunch break and until it ended. 😳 what!?!?? Soooooo ma'am, what does that have to do with the company losing money? I could see if it was an emergency, however another employee was definitely inside as well....come on, make it make sense please. ~Simone

I don’t know his name but whoever was running the register around 10am on 3/18/22 was seriously fantastic. I had a big purchase for my company and I had two carts full. Not only was he super fast but he held onto my cart and transferred all my items for me into a different cart as well. He was so incredibly friendly. He welcomed me in with a smile and was so so sweet. He deserves some recognition! Thank you for your excellent customer service! ~Gabby
