Please check my review history, I rarely leave anything but high-star reviews. Avis has a new strategy to trick people into fees. It used to be insurance, now it's "toll" or "daily convenience fee toll counter product". When I rent with ANY other agency, the toll function is automatic, and I happily pay the tolls as they are tabulated, plus a one or two dollar fee, no problem. Recently another company dropped the ball and I had to use Avis for the first (and last) time in years. When they ask, "will you be driving through tolls?", what they are ACTUALLY asking is, 'would you like us to charge you $14.99 per day just in case you go on a toll?' I wasn't within 20 miles of a toll road for over a week, and Avis still charges for "Toll Service". Emails to customer service were about at dismissive as you could expect. The onus is on me, I now remember why I pay extra not to use companies like

Extremely bad service. I was visiting a friend here and booked a car with Avis. I arrived at the place on time to return the car. They kept me waiting for 20 minutes and charged me $60 more for an extra day because I returned car late? The service is trash here. Will dispute the transaction.

Worst car rental experience I’ve EVER had 0 stars is more like it. Charged me over 3000.00$ I call then Was hung up on, then I was email saying I never returned the car and said it was a Jeep I didn’t return not a Honda. I replied to the email like I was asked 24 hours later no reply back. Day of rental I was just handed keys nobody checked the car or gas. This was the Braintree mass location. Never again

I mostly avoid writing negative reviews, but this was such an unprofessional and frustrating experience and I do not want anyone to experience the same. With my flight from Newark hours away, I reach the Braintree Avis venue to pick up the one way rental at 4:50 PM. They were closed! The location did not pick up the calls. Avis customer center could not provide an alternate car of similar size even from the airport! Booking details: Confirmation number : 48403901US0 Reserved on : Feb 10, 2021 Pick up details : Thu, February 18 5:00PM at Braintree, MA Drop off details: Fri, February 19 at Newark More details: I had booked an one way rental from Braintree Avis location to Newark airport as I had my international flight departing from Newark Liberty. The booking was made well in advance and on the day of travel I had called them thrice to check if the car is available so I can take it sooner since I would anyhow be dropping it in few hours in Newark which is well within 24 hours, but the representative told that the car will only be available at my booking time which was 5 PM. I was okay with that and reached the venue by 4:50. To my surprise, the location was closed. The calls were not answered. Upon reaching the Avis customer care, they could not provide any alternate cars - not even from the airport location. With intense snow and ice around, there were no other cars in the vicinity. When my whole travel plan was to be halted because of this callous customer service, another rental service came to the rescue, though I had to pay five times the price they atleast offered a last minute one way rental from Logan airport to Newark.

Avis makes it nearly impossible to reserve a car. All the branches specific phone numbers that appear on google are not actually specific to that branch. They all get directed to their main line where it takes a minimum of ten minutes to get to someone who then can’t even help you. They ask you to call the branch directly, but you already did call the branch directly! That’s exactly what you tried to do. I wish I could give Avis my business but they won’t allow me too. And to go through all of that to have the person on the other line question your intelligence by telling you “you need to call that branch directly” as if you didn’t think of that? Absolutely abysmal. If this is how car rental companies think they should operate, bye bye to the car rental industry. By the way, Enterprise car rental makes it very easy to get ahold of the specific branch you originally tried to contact. ****** UPDATE ******* Avis has a representative comment on all bad reviews and put up response to create the appearance that they’re going to take care of the issue. That is done to trick people who are reading the reviews to think that AVIS is going to get right on solving the issue. If you read their replies, they do not address the issues or make it right to the customers. What they do is create more work for the person to do, so they can spend their own time, efforts, and money trying to tell Avis AGAIN! What the issue is. Anyone who thinks that the “reply from owner” shows any sort of effort to resolve problems, is a slow minded individual. It’s merely an empty facade used to try to offset bad reviews. A good company would embrace bad reviews, and adapt to better their product for their customers. Bad companies do not like bad reviews, and even worse companies hire staff to go out and try to counteract reviews with leaving a comment that appears as though they are resolving anything. Customer service was poor! They also took $85 out of my account. Over 2 months after i rented it, for a damaged tire that i never damaged. I DROVE the vehicle there w/tire n good standing. Never received a call, letter, email nothing supporting this false claim. They just straight up stole from me !

I have been a customer for Avis for almost a decade. However I am extremely frustrated with the customer service of this location, and seriously thinking of changing to other auto rental agency. I made a reservation online to pick up a vehicle at this location, but because of very heavy traffic, my ETA was getting delayed. So I called this agency and literally bagging them to wait for me just for 5 minutes. But whoever was on the phone totally shut me out and said you can't rent a car after 6pm. He told me to go to Logan Airport location and the price is the same. I arrived at the location just one minute after 6pm. It was closed obviously. I called the customer service to modify the reservation and the price became double of the original rate. I explained what's happened to the representative, but she kept saying there's nothing she can do and pushed me to just complete the modification. So I ended up spent double of the original rate and plus paid extra $35 for Lyft to get to the airport. I made a reservation for another vehicle for a business trip a while ago which I am regretting so much now. I am definitely going to cancel that one. Oh yeah right. This guy's are going to charge me a cancellation fee and of course there's nothing they can do about that at that time again, so sure. What a great way to treat a longtime customer. Never ever go to this location if you MUST use Avis. Stay away and avoid unnecessary hassle and stress.
