I have taken 5 different guitars/basses to Kal-Tone over the past 3 years. They do incredible work at fair prices. They always give me accurate price estimates up front and if anything comes up, they give me a call to talk through it. And they really work for you! They don’t try to commit you to unnecessary fixes and they are always super transparent. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

I brought in my beloved telecaster to the shop and dropped it off to Lachlan for a set up job. When I played it one week later, I was immediately inspired by the feel of the guitar. He had fulfilled my request perfectly! I would recommend this shop to anyone. Well done, Kal-Tone, and thank you!

Brought in my Ibanez bass with some new strings to get it set up. Everyone at Kal tone was patient and explained what services would be best for me. I don't know a whole lot about guitars so their guidance was much appreciated. Prices were appropriate and I did not feel like I was taken advantage of due to my ignorance. I'll return for my instrument related needs.

I just picked up a used Taylor guitar but it wasn’t playing quite right. I knew I needed to have a professional set up. I thought about trying to do it myself, but I figured I should leave it to the pros. I’m really happy I went to Kaltone. I wanted to support a local business. Fantastic service, very professional, Lachlan knew exactly what needed to be done, and as he promised my guitar plays beautifully! Night and day difference. Highly recommend!

I simply cannot reccomend this place enough - the techs on site are knowledgeable and you can tell they love the work they do. I even received a follow-up call about a week after picking up my guitar inquiring about how well it was playing, which was a fantastic touch. The pricing with this company is very competitive; I was fully expecting to pay over $150 for a basic setup and some fret crowning work, but I was pleasantly surprised to be charged less than $100. Turnaround time was fairly good; I dropped my guitar off just before the shop closed on Monday, and received a call Friday morning that the work was completed. Although to be fair, I did specify with the tech that I would be moving that week and was in no rush to get the guitar back. There is a reason this place only has 5 star reviews on here... if you live in Kalamazoo, skip the corporate chain store and get some fantastic local service. You're not going to pay much (if anything) more at Kal Tone than the big chain would charge you, and the service cannot be matched.

Had my Strat re-fretted here a few weeks ago. It plays like a brand new guitar! Top quality, professional service, and great communication. They gave me a great deal as well. Thanks Kal-Tone!

Lachlan was very friendly and professional. I brought in a cheap bass with messed up electronics that had never been set up. He said it would be $30 to figure out the problem. He also said it would cost $60 to set up the bass and $35 to dress the frets if I wanted that. I decided to go for all of it. He said the electronics problem would've been found out and fixed with the normal set up process, so he didn't even charge me for the electronics fix. So I paid $95 to get electronics fixed, get it set up, and get the frets dressed. It feels and sounds great! I really appreciate the work and the honesty. I will definitely be back!!

I own a Gibson Marauder that I stripped and it sat around for about 20 yrs. Kal-Tone took my poor Gibson and finished it in a tobacco sunburst. I couldn't be happier. They did an outstanding job and I would recommend them for any type of guitar work you need done. Thank you Kal-Tone for saving my baby. Jeff Monroe

Very helpful and friendly staff. I was able to drop off my bass and have it repaired within a few days. I was given multiple different options for pricing and they were very accommodating. I would recommend their services and I will be returning if I need another repair done.

I brought my new to me Gibson Les Paul in for a set up after having tuning issues. My guitar was in great hands at Kaltone, I was very impressed by their knowledge and experience. They had my Les Paul fixed up quicker than I expected. Their magic Has made me fall for this guitar just as I did when I got it, only it sounds much better. 10/10 thanks!
