I rented a full-size SUV but the rep kept telling me that I rented a midsize SUV (not true). I did not have the time to argue so I took the vehicle he gave me. After the rental was over, I called the customer service dept and they adjustment my payment to match the car he gave me. He tried to up sell me on something I had already pre-paid for. Not good. Also, when I walked in, both attendants were on their cell phones. I decided to go with the one that seemed more friendlier, but he then asked his co-worker to help me. The co-worker didn't seem happy about the ask. Americans have really gotten poor in terms of what customer service means. The moment they saw a customer walk in the door, both of them should have put their phones away and made themselves look approachable. No more Hertz for me.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! I'm not sure how they recieve any stars they must pay people to boost their terrible ratings. Very poor customer service the employees are very unprofessional and rude. The quality of the cars are even worse. We recieved a dirty, damaged, and broke down car. The manager was no help and did not care about our experience at all. We need to get rid of this poor excuse of a rental company from our precious town!

Excellent service and great selection of vehicles. The cars were extremely clean and I feel like I've gotten my money's worth as a gold member. I've gotten cars from here before but they have improved on cleanliness and service tremendously.

Rented a car from this location. When I picked up the car they claimed they didn't have the car I rented available so i would have to pay more. I had to get a car so I accepted this figuring I would call when I had to return it. Then when I returned it, there was a little pet hair in the back. They couldn't show me in a contract where pets are prohibited and attempted to charge me for cleaning. Luis, the manager was completely unhelpful, and I'm a hertz good member for over 20 years. Worst experience and I will never rent from this location again

Would give Zero stars if I could. By far the absolute worst rental car, service and experience I've ever had with Hertz (or any other vendor for that matter). Returned the vehicle early because I couldn't deal with the odor. Dirty car, no gas, damaged vehicle, terrible odor - mix of trash, mildew and smoke, trash inside the car. Just awful.

I went here to rent a car last week. The associates were very unprofessional. I made a reservation in Florida before arriving to NJ. It did not come up so when I arrived to the location I went back online and rebooked the reservation. I have rented from Hertz for years and have always had good experiences. The guy tells me he doesn't have any rentals and no other Hertz in the area has any rentals. He then tells me that I should go rent from ENTERPRISE. I'm standing here with three kids and luggage and he tells me to go spend my money at another company because he doesn't want to do his job. I had just paid $30 getting to this location from the airport if I wanted to rent from another company I would have done it there. I overheard multiple conversations on with a man not going to be able to get his rental on time and another with woman asking to come in for a rental and him telling her it was ok but he tells me there are no rentals yet there are cars in the lot and no customers in the location. I asked if I could be taken to a different location he said no. Luckily my brother works for the company so I call and tell him what is going on at THIS location because all Hertz locations are not like this and I just rented a car at another location 2 weeks before. He calls and all of a sudden there is a car available. I brought the car back on time and filled with gas. The lot was still filled with cars. I got my receipt emailed to me and they charged me a $40.00 Fuel purchase option that I did not agree to. I have been renting with Hertz for at least 15 years. I am so disappointed in this location, their lack of integrity and poor customer service. I decided to write this review. Buyers be aware and pay attention to your receipts. I always take pictures of my mileage and gas because unfortunately there are unscrupulous people in the world who think they can get away with anything. When you do things like this it makes the company look bad. The company knows a customers purchase habits and I never purchase fuel.

Second terrible experience here. Previously, they just...didn't have a car available when we came to pick it up at the time we had reserved it, weeks prior. That was a deal breaker going forward, of course, but a relative came into town and rented from this location without knowing our history. Went to pick up her car today, staff was rude, said her card was declined so they couldn't rent to her. I had the relative call their credit card company, figuring it was a standard algorithm fraud alert you sometimes get while traveling. Doesn't matter, staff say they won't rent her a car today. So, we leave, and go to the always friendly and effecient other rental car business in town. On the way there my relative gets ahold of her bank, bank says it wasn't from their end, says it was the terminal and they should of tried swiping the card. An hour later she is in a car and happy. This place is just terrible. Needs a complete replacement of management and staff.

Never again!! Some of the staff is unprofessional and rude and we were charged an extra day due to a miscommunication in the agreement. Of course, the staff member who made this mistake clearly did not understand the policy and refused to admit to her fault in our rental agreement. Please go somewhere else to rent your car. The wait time is not worth the attitude given especially when not everyone is on the same page. They are holding your money for all of these policies and rules and deposits but cannot make sure that everything that is discussed is what is actually going to happen!!! Overall, I did not enjoy renting my car from them because so many things were wrong.

I called this morning, and a lady answered phone and then hung up on me. Called back and spoke to a guy to explain my rental needs. My Ford Explorer broke down and the dealership will only reimburse my rental if it's a Ford. I asked if they had any Fords, he said "Yes we have a Ford Edge". He then said it was okay for me to come get it. I initiated the rental request online and took at $15 cab to Maplewood. When I got there, I introduced myself and said I was the one who needed the ford. He looked so confused that I thought I went to the wrong location...I just talked to this guy literally 20 minutes prior. He then takes me ID and Credit card, swipes and enters my info...and then goes on to say " Oh the Ford Edge is actually under repair...but you can get something else." I am so angry. I had to spend money for no reason on round trip cabs because of terrible customer service. He also could care less about wasting my time.

Horrible customer service. I arrived @ 4:30 and entered an empty reception area. There was one employee sitting in an office in the back attending to his personal cell phone, and at that time upon my entry he did not acknowledge my presence with a greeting or anything relative. I stood there for a ten minute time period until a Hispanic representative entered through the same door I came in through. Again this employee did not greet me or ask if I needed any help. I stated to him that I did research for this location through the Hertz website and would like a compact sized rental for the weekend. He said "We really don't have much only a Toyota Corolla" which is a mid sized classified vehicle. He then placed his elbows on the desk as he slouched over and attended to his cell phone while giving me only partial attention upon my reply. He said to me afterwards " An approved credit card is needed to place $300 on hold with an additional $100 and something odd dollars as some fee. I was not comfortable with his professional etiquette, behavior, and body language and felt insulted. I was displeased all around being that my wife was present with me so I stated to him, " Thank You I am no longer interested. " I left and went to a more professional car rental location where the customer is treated with more respect. This location and Hertz I will never recommend or visit for any business related proposes.
