Avis is AWESOME! Their prices beat ALL the others. Needed a rental for a week -$324!!! Cars are clean, personal are very helpful! I have rented from them numerous times and always have a great experience. Highly recommend!

Got stuck having to wait over one hour as agent Mark locked up and left to drive someone home and no other agent to cover when he left. We had boarder appt for 115 and we were beyond late, then a 90 minute wait at bridge. Put my wife and myself in bad mood to start our day trip off by almost 430 pm. Late night return for day and late getting next day started. It just started the whole weekend off on the wrong foot. Was told he should be fire by customer service for leaving, but was there upon return of van today.

Mark at customer service was terrific. He stayed after closing hours and helped get our rental. With so many issues that can come up with sold out cars and cancellations, I’m glad there is people like Mark that go above and beyond to help you out.

Very disappointing AVIS experience. The vehicle had a cracked windshield, the registration was expired by two months, car was not cleaned, car flashed OIL CHANGE NEEDED every time I started the car, cigarette burn holes in the seat, low tire pressure light on upon pickup (I had to air the tire up each day), tires had very little tread on them, especially the one with the pressure issue, the cracked windshield got bigger and spread to another crack as I had the vehicle for the week. Upon picking up the vehicle I noted a few of the issues, but found more as my week went on. VERY DISAPPOINTED with my “first” AVIS experience.

I am a regular renter from Avis because of my company and have been repeatedly disappointed in the last few rentals. Today I rented a car to take me from Buffalo NY to NYC (one way). I was given a car with 42,000 miles on it, smelled horrible, and had the check engine light on. I was told it was because it was due for an oil change but was fine to drive. About 45 minutes into the ride the “Service Engine” light started flashing and the car started shaking. This went on (on and off) consistently until I pulled over. It was 90 degrees in the middle of NYS and I had a dog with me. I called the Road side assistance line and after about 20 minutes the conclusion was that they would send a tow truck (or an uber) to take me to Rochester Airport for a new car. Rochester was 1:10 away. This was impossible with a dog and as a woman traveling alone I was totally uncomfortable doing this (in addition to going backwards away from my destination). The customer service agent became very irritated and started raising his voice telling me to “understand this was my only option”. I asked to have a car brought to me which he said would take 4-6 hours and cost more money. I finally called the office I rented from who tried to help me resolve. After over an hour waiting for him to return my call I called back again and he let me know he couldn’t arrange anything from roadside assistance and I had to call back. By this point I arranged a personal ride to take me back and asked for a tow truck to pick up the car. Several hours later the tow truck called and asked if the car was there. I didn’t get a confirmation that the car was picked up or successfully dropped off. I merely received a receipt with a charge. Totally unacceptable to give someone a car that required service, broke down, and then to still charge (let alone compensating the person who had to come and get me). Super disappointed.

I have been in Buffalo since March 30th. I just returned the car July 24th. Cheaper to go there than get it at the airport, and I had no issues with them or the vehicle.

Mark is a stellar employee who takes the time to help you. I would recommend speaking with him when trying to reserve a rental. He will work with you and is NICE when doing so.

I’m normally a Hertz customer and have had gold status there for about seven years. My wife decided to take a trip with her sister and decided to go with Avis. What a huge mistake. I’ve never had an issue with being able to reserve a Rent-A-Car with a Visa debit card. Here they don’t take that. It’s absolutely incredible. Even on the Avis website, it says that you could use your debit card as long as it has a Visa or a MasterCard logo. What on earth makes the orchard park location a high-risk area where they don’t feel comfortable taking debit cards? I highly recommend avoiding Avis Orchard Park at all costs. There is almost every other option where you will not run into this issue. The parking lot and where they have the cars is also tiny it’s very difficult to navigate around there and it’s right on that crazy intersection in Orchard Park. Again, highly recommend an alternative if you have one.

DO NOT BOOK A RENTAL HERE! First time renting a car because of some car issues. Was able to book a car easily and go the next morning to pick it up. When I got the car, it was dirty with crumbs, wrappers and empty bottles rolling around in the back and a engine oil light that would not go away the entire rental. It also had a smoky smell like they tried to cover up with something that just made it worse. I decided to return in to the Webster, NY location and when I tried calling to confirm I was all set to return, no one answered (I called several times). Finally I called the Orchard Park location and asked for help and the man basically just said "don't know what to tell you" and that I actually had the rental for 2 more days and that I paid for the week versus just paying for 5 days like I asked for. I was not aware that I was paying for the full week and paid extra money. No one told me until the day I was suppose to return it that I "could have had it for two more days". My paperwork said to return it Sunday so that is what I did. This Webster location does not pull up on google maps and their number does not work, which is very sketchy. I decided to show up and try to drop the car off. The lady working at the location in Webster told me that their fax number shows as their phone number when trying to call, they said they have told corporate about it and they did nothing. Was so happy to get rid of this rental, will not be using this company again.

So I showed up on the Friday i was to pick up my rental only to find out the only pickup left was due for a service and would not be ready until the next morning. I left and came back the next morning and picked up the truck. First it was absolutely filthy on the inside which was very disappointing because I prepaid for this truck to use for a month. As I was getting ready to leave on my business trip on Sunday morning the truck stalled twice in the middle of traffic. I took it back to the lot but they did not have another truck for me to take. I had to get picked up and taken to another rental car company as I had to leave on my trip in 3 hours! I spoke with Mark Monday morning and he did nothing but give me a hard time because I prepaid for the month. (I would have taken another truck if they had one!!) I asked for a refund for the month rental. Mark said he would refund me the money but I would have to pay for the 1 day I had the truck. Well low and behold he charged my card that day for the one day rental but yet to this day (one month later) I have still not gotten the refund for the $1100. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs!!
