My cousin went in to the Valvoline on Spence to get his battery tested and to get his vehicle scanned for codes as he had a check engine light. I personally work for a different Valvoline and these services are free and don’t require anything else to be done. However the workers at the Spence location said these could only be done after an oil change, which is a blatant lie.

Charge too much and pressure you to pay for extras. I asked about getting my inspection done there and they quoted me 3 times as much as Jiffy Lube and the dealership. Won't go there.

First, I’ll start with saying before this issue I’ve never had a problem. I’ve always trusted you guys with my car, but I will never again after this. I went in for an oil change , a tire rotation, and a headlight change. When I drove into the shop everything was great, staff was excellent initially. I was instructed to get out of my vehicle for the tire rotation okay cool. Tried changing headlight, 1.5 hours later I’m back in my car. They didn’t have the right head light. They bill me , send the bill to my email. I’ve never not had my bill printed. Everyone else’s were printed. 3 cars left before I could leave. Now when I’m driving home my brakes are not working!!! I had to pump my brakes and when I would slam down my car wasn’t stopping. I could not safely stop my car, they were closed before I could call them to figure out what happened. I called the very next day to speak with the general manager (Christina). She was unavailable and at a different location. I called the other location (Smithfield). She told me to have my mechanic contact her and if he said that my brake line was slit they would cover the cost for repairs. I dangerously drove my car to my mechanic , and he informed me my brake line has been cut. So I contacted the store and told them about my issue with my brakes, the manager is at lunch” , called back an hour later “the manager went to the bank”. I drove up there and they tell me she’s down stairs. So that alone makes me upset! This is a long process that could’ve been avoided. I showed her my brake line and had my paper work in my hand for the invoice of my damage. I ended up paying over 500$ To have my car repaired. All I asked for was a refund for my services. Instead she offers me 25 and tells me that she doesn’t THINK her staff could’ve done this! I am completely and utterly disappointed! I will be contacting a lawyer. I could have been killed by this mistake and I will NEVER do service with Valvoline ever again. Services: Oil change, Tires

Checked the oil, belt, transmission fluid, pretty much everything under the hood and runs 200% better than before! Also cheaper for your wallet! Really recommended when you need your oil changed! Very polite and friendly staff to make sure your car runs as smoothly as humanly possible! Wish we could give em a 10 star rating!

Dave, I do believe is his name, bought out a company in Kinston (Shell Rapid Lube) and will be turning it into a Valvoline shop. He fired the previous manager, Landon, whom has been the most loyal and hardworking employee for 22 years. Giving up time with his family and working long hours. (I know this bc I have worked with him for two years while I was in school.) His reasoning for firing him was bc Landon would be making more money than him and he wanted to cut his pay by A LOT! So landon did what ANYONE would have done in that situation and expressed how he felt about it and was then told to pack up his toolbox and leave. That was very unprofessional. If you don’t make the money to pay your employees, you should not be a business owner to begin with. I will never support a Valvoline business if this is how they treat valuable employees. This will be shared to social media sites bc what this man has done is WRONG. Good luck building rapport in kinston…Dave

I had an oil change on my 2020 mustang GT. They did a really good job. Only thing is, they should let customers sit for 1 minute when the customer start their car to leave. The new oil need time to reach engine parts.

I have been going to this store for years now . I have always gotten good service until recently within the past 6 months that I have had issues . I tried being nice and understanding , but 2 Mess ups is enough for me especially when the manager CHRISTINA seems to not really want to help or try to make the situation better . I went to get my tires rotated about 6 months ago .. and everything was good until I needed to get new tires and couldn’t because my lock key for my wheels wasn’t in the bag it’s kept in .. instead someone else key was sent with me . I call and ask them and they are nonchalant saying oh yeah we have it .. so inconveniently I had to leave my work to go get my key in order to get my tires done . This second time really got me . I sat there for a good 30 minutes waiting to be seen . I tell them I want inspection and oil change done . The guy doing my car is putting in that everything is checked and good in. The computer .. they do my oil change and send me on my way . Here I am thinking everything was done but no it wasn’t . I didn’t get my inspection done . He checked everything was ok without actually checking everything on my car . When I get to the dmv and wait ANOTHER 30 minutes .. I’m told I don’t have the right paper .. so I call valvoline ,. The manager isn’t in the store at the time . The person on the phone says he will relay the message and give my number to the manager . The manager never contacts me ,. So I call and she answers .. she questions ME WHY didn’t I ask them this and that .. putting it on ME .. not really the response you want to hear when you just PAID $ 112 to get your oil changed , WONT BEE BACK . Contacted corporate and they have documented my experience I wanted to UPDATE THE DISTRICT MANAGER HAS REACHED OUT TO ME AND MADE A BAD EXPERIENCE BETTER KNOWING how much he truly cares about the customer service and the way the business is run .I truly appreciate KENNY for reaching out. He has given me great reason to go back and give it another try. Thank you so much ! Service: Oil change

Great customer service and very polite. There was only one car ahead of me. Once it was my turn, it took less than 25 minutes to get my oil changed. I'll definitely be coming back here for my next oil change.
