**Deceptive Sales and Poor Repair Work** Bought what was represented as a slightly used DEMO GIANT Road Bike. Shortly after the purchase the brakes rubbed, seat post creaking and front tire had to be replaced at my expense + labor. Rather then fight, I paid and lost faith in a local business. They finally admitted that they were no longer a Giant Retailer and that I had to contact Giant myself when I told them I want to talk to the Rep.

I was a serious bike commuter for decades until I moved out of the city 10 years ago. My son was finally old enough to ride on his own and I decided to upgrade my bike during COVID. My experience with Newtown Cycle couldn’t be better. Understandably there was a bike shortage in the summer of 2020, but they happened to have a great beginner road bike at a competitive price. Any issues that arose Corey and Harry were more than happy to take care of, including issues with derailing that cut a few long rides short (no fault of theirs - just the limitations of a starter bike). They’ve always done service quickly, and quite frankly, I’m often surprised how reasonably priced they are. As I’ve gotten more serious and started riding further distances (including a couple of centuries) Corey has been incredibly helpful in answering my questions while I’ve been trying to find a good used bike as an upgrade locally. Now that I’ve moved up to my first Carbon/105 Trek, I will continue to use them for all my service, questions and parts. They are definitely an amazing local resource for everything bike related.

A few years ago I was visiting my home trails when I wanted to switch my locking skewers for quick release. I tried this shop due to its proximity and relatively good reviews. However, when I got there the options were very limited and I didn’t want to pay $40 for some used skewers when I could easily get a set for free from my usual shop in Philly. It’s surprising to me that a shop of this size didn’t have standard road bike parts. Maybe it’s my fault for being experienced in the industry and working at a shop where we gave out these kinds of parts all the time, but it was still unpleasant. Fast forward to my most recent attempt to get some help from this shop regarding my dirty brakes. Called ahead of my arrival to make sure they could help me out. The first person I spoke with didn’t know what Ultegra brake pads were until he remembered they had black pieces on them (those are called brake fins, they dissipate heat). Anyways that’s not really a big deal, but overall the person on the phone didn’t know much about brakes, or how much cleaning my brakes would cost me so I asked if I could just borrow their isopropyl spray. Again, it might be my fault that the shop I worked at would let people borrow things for a quick fix and I shouldn’t expect every shop to follow the same rules. However, we agreed I could come in once his boss was around to make sure it would be okay. When I got there I called the store and spoke with the boss of the store. I told him I didn’t want to leave my bike since I was going on a ride, and I just needed a quick brake pad cleaning. I asked if I could borrow their isopropyl spray and was rudely told to either drop the bike off or go fix it myself. So I left, went to rite aid around the corner and bought isopropyl for $5. I cleaned my brakes in the parking lot, and my bike was good to go in less than 10 minutes. It’s a shame this shop lacks the understanding that helping someone with something small can result in big dividends down the line when they need more extensive repairs. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. Do your research before committing to anything with this shop.

Just picked up my bike and was elated by my experience at Newtown Bicycle Shop! They have been busy due to the high demand for bikes, but the staff was still very patient and accommodating. Harry, the owner, was super hands on--he had my bike and helmet ready to go, he installed additional equipment that I asked for, and he even went out to my car to put on the bike rack for me. In addition, I needed to exchange my helmet for a new size and I was able to do so without question or concern. I highly recommend Newtown Bicycle Shop for all bicycle needs!

Called on a tuesday to place an order (with Corey I believe), picked up a newly assembled street bike the following day ride-worthy. I put 200 miles on the bike and got my in-warranty tuneup which was completed in only a day. Impressed so far! Harry is enthusiastic, has a lot of information, and I think I learned more about the trails from him in a 5 minute conversation than my hours of internet research resulted in.

As a resident of Newtown I always patronize local businesses. I’d used Harry’s services over the course of many years. Although he seemed uncommunicative and downright surly, I never took it personally. But after paying $149 for a “tune-up” he said neither thank you or good-bye as I passed him on my way out of the door. Needless to say, I never returned. If my money and my patronage mean so little to him, we obviously have little need for each other.

The guy in this shop does not even deserve the 1 star he is getting. My husband went in there today looking for a part and wasn't even able to get an entire sentence out of his mouth before he got the rude response of "we don't carry that" . When my husband tried to explain what he wanted he was cut off several times before he just gave up and walked out of the store. I would never buy anything from this shop. I'd rather wait and order what I need on line from Amazon then to give them business! To put the icing on the cake I went to their website and they do indeed have the part he was looking for!

Very horrible service. I bought a bmx there and was not happy with my purchase. I only rode it ONCE and the would not give me my money back. The employee was nice. I asked him to speak to the owner. The owner told me in a rude way " buying that bike was not my life decision it was yours so, I can't help you. " then he hung up. Again will never purchase a bike or any accessories from this store ever again. I was planing to buy a mountain bike but I'll go to another place. Worst decision of my life going there. I'm warning don't go there
