Do NOT use this company. I just got hustled big time. They misrepresented and lied completely on the estimate, and now looking to charge me almost an additional $12,000 dollars. I guess I should have read the reviews because that seems to be mentioned several times.

Expect to pay more than you were quoted. We hired this company to hoist a Dining Table Top into our client's condo unit. When I first called Charles quoted the hoist for me. I gave him all information he requested and mentioned that I had photos of the exterior incase he needed, but he did not ask me to send them. The day before the move at 4pm Charles called to ask for the exterior photos I had previously offered so I sent them over to him. The morning of the move at 6:50am I received a call from Midway informing me that they could not do the hoist and needed to use a forklift which would be an additional $1200. Since they informed me this was my ONLY option I decided to proceed and expressed my disappointment in the quoting process. They said they would try to work on lowering the cost for me. Upon arrival, the guys inspected the situation and told me they in fact could NOT use the forklift due to the client's terrace location and that they were going to hoist the top after I was told this wasn't an option. During the delivery they decided to ask me about purchasing valuation for the Dining Table top incase it breaks during delivery. Thankfully this wasn't a substantial cost, but frustrating to be asked this during the delivery. In the end, they charged me for the $1200 forklift that they DIDN'T use and will not refund me. I've been in communication with both Charles + Judy who have been zero help. Don't use this company unless you would like to pay more than what you're quoted.

I made a terrible mistake on not checking Yelp for reviews. This company's business model is to rip you off, nothing more. They pay their labor peanuts, I asked them and they were also getting ripped off. You get that level of care with your stuff at that level of wage. All of my furniture is damaged. They were terrible at packing. Half packed boxes and charged me through the roof for packaging materials. Complained about how I moved into a 3rd floor unit. Avoid at all costs.

Armando and his crew did a fantastic job moving 48 years worth of furniture and ‘stuff’ from Cubs Country to Cardinals Country! The weather was miserable and driving a little scary but the whole team was efficient and cheerful. Highly Recommend Midway!

I hired Midway because I wanted to use someone local to relocate my belongings to Texas. The customer service was good but the quality of service is trash. I am beyond flustered. Jorge was assigned to my pickup and did a careless job. He got into an altercation with my neighbors causing the police to be called. Most importantly, he did a rushed job and left boxes and stools after getting frustrated about the altercation. Due to this, I had to drive my car 16 hours to Texas to transport my other items since they were left. Keep in mind I was originally going to transport my car. It took a week for my items to arrive, which wasn't too bad. Upon arrival Bob handled my delivery. He was nice but clearly was set up for this disaster. First, Bob says "I see your bed, but no mattress" this was odd because Midway disassembled my bed and took the mattress set and included it in the inventory. Not only are my 2 smart Tv's cracked, I have boxes full of broken glass (each box was labeled "glass/fragile", my large living room mirror was damaged and my bed could not be assembled because Jorge loss the screws. I do not recommend this company and I have hired an attorney. To top it off, I contacted Bob to inform him that clearly they delivered my stuff elsewhere because I had items delivered to me that did not belong to me. Spare yourself the tears, do not use this company!! Oh, and they ask for tips before completing the job. I tipped them $100 at pickup since they were done in less than 2 hours. I was quoted $2,300 but ended up paying $3,535 for the weigh. **UPDATE** I left a review on BBB 10/04/2020 and received a response from one of the managers this morning. Judy was very helpful, thanks to her, after days of suspense, Judy located my "missing crate" that was left behind in Chicago. Judy sent me a picture to confirm the items were mine, the picture clearly shows why my belongings that did arrive were broken and damaged. Mirrors and vases were unboxed (keep in mind prior to pick up I informed them of the items I had, and they told me they'll be boxed). Nonetheless, I spoke with Steve today and he offered me $250 for a mattress since my stuff will take 2+ additional weeks to arrive due to them not having drivers available. I was originally quoted roughly $2,300 for the move, then $920 was added ($1 per lbs over 2,500lbs) in total I paid $3,535. I'm curious to know why and how I was charged such a high fee when a whole crate didn't arrive to me?? This has been the worst moving experience ever. I am in a new city without my necessities. Every day I am eating out or grocery shopping (rebuying items that were left in Chicago) while sleeping on hardwood floors. The customer service is the only thing of quality with Midway. I just would like to share my experience with Midway Moving & Storage and I want to say that I am so grateful for their service! Thanks a bunch for setting it up, Tim! A big shout out to FAMILY MOVING & STORAGE who was scheduled to show up for my move, by the way, which was scheduled THREE WEEKS IN ADVANCE, but DID NOT show up AT ALL and there wasn't even a call until two hours later. I made alternate arrangements with Midway. I was supposed to move on Saturday, but Midway made it happen and I was able to move on Sunday. Working remotely, I needed to meet my internet service provider on Monday. So it was important to move that weekend. They got me in my new place and also stopped at a thrift store on the way to pick up a couple of items and also to drop off a table and a couple of chairs. I am truly thankful. We hired them for a move on 11/17/2020 about 6 blocks away. We paid for some packing services. They walked through the house with me and I gave specific instructions as to what to take, what to leave, what to pack. They did not write anything down. I explained that my babies were preemies and my husband and I both have compromised immune systems and stressed the importance of mask wearing. The movers were not using masks appropriately. Several times I caught one of the guys in one of the rooms with their mask completely under their chin. Others had them below the nose. I reminded them every time and I think I did so politely (though I'm sure the frustration was in my voice after requesting it of the same people over and over again.) This was problem number 1. Problem 2 was that they majorly scratched my floor moving my elliptical in because they did not put anything down to protect the floor they were rolling it over. I did not see it until after they were already gone (because I did not have a chance to check the entire house before they left, as late as it was.) and I was told it was not their responsibility because I hadn't noted it before signing everything. The scratch follows the exact path they brought the elliptical in. They also lost my husband's grill cover. I submitted the claim and received a letter offering a "good faith" $50 which required me to go to a notary in order to claim. Accepting it would also require not leaving a negative review. Problem 3 was that they left my old house a complete disaster, several items were left behind, the ones I specifically said to leave were not left (it was stuff in a single closet). All the lights were left on in the house. Packing materials were strewn all over and motion lights were knocked off the walls and left there. I would not use this company again. They did not follow good safety practices, they cause damage to both properties and their claim resolution was less than satisfactory. I hired them from a recommendation and wish I had chosen someone else. I am pleased that they were able to send more guys last minute at their suggestion to get it done faster, they arrived on time and almost everything made it to the new house. So there's that.

Using Midway Moving & Storage (orange trucks advertising the "official mover of the Chicago Cubs") was an absolute disaster. First, don't trust the "quote" that you receive - our move came in at FOUR TIMES what we were quoted. When the movers arrived at our house, they commented two things: 1) that our packing and staging was amazing and it looked professionally done (we did it ourselves); and 2) that we needed a second truck and a full additional crew of guys to get everything done. On top of that, our original quote did not include required costs that added major costs (which were absolutely known to the person who gave us the quote), including unload time at the storage facility. To say that we were baited-and-switched is an understatement. Next, both crews we had were careless at best, and at worst seemed to intentionally cause damage to our things. The move-out crew put their inventory stickers on the FRONT of almost every piece of furniture and other large items that were not packed in boxes (rather than hiding them on the back/underside). Of course, this caused some damage to our items when they were removed. They also applied tape directly to the surface of a leather chair, ruining it. Worst, during our move in the crew dropped a heavy dresser directly on our newly refinished wood floor, gauging it severely right in the middle of our front entryway. The company had the audacity to offer us $200 in compensation for that damage, which according to the quotes I have received will end up costing us thousands to have fixed. There's other issues as well, but this should give you an idea of what to expect. Avoid these guys at all costs. Services: Packing & moving supplies, Moving-related storage

I cannot say enough good things about Midway Moving and Storage! It started when we walked into the Storage location on Chicago Ave to pick up boxes and spoke with John. He gave us pointers on how many boxes, how to best pack dishes, and encouraged us to call for a moving quote. We went back to John 3x to get boxes and each time he was so helpful and always left us with a smile. I then called for a quote and spoke with Ty. Ty was AMAZING and helped with all the details I didn't know how to explain. He ensured we would have all the items we would need, he explained any extra charges that may pop up if we needed extra supplies so that we understood everything involved. Made the process easy and understandable. Then on moving day we had the VIP crew of Lou, Javier, and Noel. We cannot say enough positive things about this crew. They were polite, professional, quick, and beyond helpful. There was no damage to anything that was moved, they took extra care and even made it fun for us as well. Once we got to our final destination they even gave my dad a Midway Mover shirt because he did help unload some smaller items on the truck. They are the best movers we have ever used and will use them again in the future and recommend them to everyone! Thank you Midway Movers for making the whole process from start to finish very easy and at an unbeatable price!
