19 Best grocery store in Sacramento, California (CA) 2024

This Safeway is Clean, Fast and filled with friendly workers. I can always find what I need, and the merchandisers keep shelves stocked and prices correct. The hot food is to die for. You can't be $8 for Chicken Breast, Wing or Drumstick, with Mac n Cheese and potato salad. Everything is amazing. ~John

I mean, it's a Walmart and this one was quick and easy to find and to find what we needed. BUT, despite that it felt so "warehouse-y" and like they just want our $, not that we're valued (common with Walmarts especially). Don't get me wrong, I know all businesses do, but I appreciate shopping at the places where employees seem happy -- they even are polite and friendly with customers! -- this place was NOT that 😔😞 We try to avoid Walmart's in general, but when traveling sometimes is harder. Can't recommend this one though, unless your whole goal is a quick grab-&-go without any interaction, friendliness, and a tense feeling throughout the store. ~Laura

This store is always top notch! Even if they are sold out of why I want, someone is always knowledgeable about when/if they will receive the item again. It’s clean, organized, seemingly well staffed and run so efficiently. I can’t ask for more than that so I gladly spend lots of money here : ) ~Stephanie

My family and I use to love this place. But lately all the employees are trying to catch you stealing they lost the customer service. You're not the police, your a entry level employee, there to only service. Let the protecting be done by the police. ~Review

What a horrible experience shopping at this store. The staff is absolutely rude and unprofessional in helping the customers. I waited over ten minutes at the seafood section, I worker saw me waiting and he completely ignored me and kept filling his ice over the fishes. When asked for his assistance in getting the crabs 🦀, he told me to get it myself 🤬🤬😡😡. The meat department are also the same. I’ll take my money and businesses elsewhere. ~Mikal

I just want to thank the manager Jason for taking the time to look for a pouch of coins that I left here while I was paying for my groceries. The coins In the pouch are a collection from many years ago, from different countries, etc. Just extremely sentimental to me and he took the time to check multiple areas where lost and found items are turned in. Oh, also this location is stocked well and clean. good job team! ~Christian

My problem is with the friendliness of the staff and his willingness to help others. This older asian couple browsed the regular checkout lanes (lines backed up) and decided to come to self-checkout since they were only purchasing carrots. Mind you ONE ITEM. They did not know how to ring up the carrots. The self-checkout employee was rude and did not bother to physically help them. He gave directions, which is useless and said it in a condescending tone. Let me remind you that the self checkout had no lines with other registers opened. He just stood by his monitor unwilling to move his body a couple steps to press "carrots" and "pay now". I understand in times where it is busy, but this time, it would have done him no harm no take two seconds to help out. I can't stand people like that so I decided to help the poor couple out. If you're going to be working in a community of minority, please teach your employee to not be ignorant and rude to those who can't speak or understand English (this is not the first time). He read their body language and knew exactly what they needed assistance with. I'm sure these people would rather have an actual human help them out, but mind you, only about two registers were opened so there is a lack of service and it is why they resort to self checkout. This was on 6/24/2022 @ ~ 18:15. This feedback has been submitted to the survey count. Although I don't know what good this will do, I have hope that this negative review will impact the store. I'm not looking to get anyone in trouble, but rather to have the higher ups educate their employee about the community in which they serve and how to assist their demographic in a kind and compassionate manner. ~Vickie

Been coming to these place couple times since I recently moved. The costumer service is horrible people are rude. The person making the food gave us a look when we told him he got our order wrong. The person in the carneseria wasn’t nice either. The bread seems to be old. The cashiers do not greet or tell you the total or nothing. ~Diana

Well… it’s Target. You can always know exactly what to expect when you go here. Groceries, daily needs, travel items, pet supply, toys, camping gear, home decor, food… you name it, Target has it all. This store is in okay shape. It’s Target, you know? ~Nathan
