I want to give my highest recommendation and warmest thanks to David West, who has nurtured my antique Steinway grand piano with care and masterful precision for the past year. David is a gracious person who brings a radiant, positive energy to his work and I can honestly say that I've never met someone who loves the Art of piano tuning and restoration more than he does. He is clearly inspired by the challenge of perfecting a piano's intricate components and he has extraordinary, meticulous ears that can distinguish even the smallest changes in frequency and timbre. I'm a lifelong musician with pretty high standards and there is no one else I would trust to dissect the bones and soothe the soul of my precious musical companion! I recently embarked on a months-long piano recording project in my home and David has been an enthusiastic and dedicated partner in the process, all along the way. He has been incredibly generous with his time and reliable to the nanosecond, even trudging at his own peril across a slippery, snowy pathway to my door last winter to make our arranged tuning appointment! His advice and recommendations are always clearly explained and he has infinite patience with my sometimes scatterbrained questions. His suggestion that I install a humidity-control device to help protect the piano's delicate wood through the dry winter certainly spared her from damage. And during this crazy wet summer, he encouraged me to keep my house consistently air-conditioned with the windows closed. This has been a crucial piece of advice as well. I owe much of my musical creativity over the past year to the beauty of the piano sound that David has coaxed from this powerful machine of wire, wood and steel. If you believe, as I do, that sound has healing and restorative powers, David is the piano wizard who can bring back the magic!

They restored my antique square grand to beyond what I would have expected. Tuned it for years and gave instruction on how to up keep it. I have since moved to Richmond. The cost for tuning is way more and I have yet to find someone that does near of a good a job as West Piano. I really miss them.
