I love the no frills OfficeMax in Alameda. Unlike many big box stores. The employees are smart, know where things are and are very helpful. I find the selection of products is better and cheaper than those of peers store like Best Buy and Office Depot. More importantly, nobody has every relieved me of my catalytic converter, conveniently off camera in the store parking lot, which happened to me at the Office Depot in Oakland-Emeryville.

Friendly service, good selection on most things, though they only had very cheap power strips. Good selection of office furniture and office chairs which you can try. No long lines when I was there. Prices are good but a touch over where they should be for some things. Other items were very reasonable.

Mae in the print department is so patient and helpful. She always has a big line because everyone wants her attention, and she’s so attentive with each customer. And always smiling and patient even with frustrating customers on the phone. You have to be patient too because this is a busy store and they could use more help for simple orders, but Mae is gem and good at making quality products.

We called to ask if they had black envelopes in stock and a woman answered the phone after we told her what we were looking for and she left us hanging for a long time, she finally picked up, said " Hello?" And promptly hung up on us after we said hello back. If there were none she could have said so instead of pretending that she went to check for us. She wasted both of our time. Just know that when you call to ask for anything.

Do not special order anything- you’re better off with Amazon. They kept my money for my special order after failing to get it for me 3x and now are taking their sweet time cutting me a check for the amount, god knows when it’ll get here. So, over 2 weeks of intermittent phone calls and emails, plus not having the money or items that whole time. Almost blew my deadline. Ordered same item from Amazon it was here 18 hours later. And I hate Bezos. Hate him. But I might hate Office Depot more now.

We go here for the copy, scan, fax, and office supplies. The self service is well organized, the instructions clear and effective, and the pricing is reasonable. Good staff for questions too!

I ordered a 24x36 foam board sign for a Bridal Shower. The poster wasn’t aligned onto the foam board evenly so I had to cut it. I had to re-glue the edges. Very disappointed with the print quantity for something that cost $48. Update: The supervisor Michael reached out to me and resolved the mishap.
