I had a great experience with Dr Miller and Nurse Amie from the Oncology department. I read a lot of negative reviews here that initially scared me, but keep in mind Blue Pearl sees thousands of pets per month, yet there are only a handful of negative reviews that I’m sure have another side to them. I’m from Wilmington, and my vet referred my cat Barley to Blue Pearl Cary after she found something suspicious in an ultrasound. It was well worth the 2+ hour drive to Cary. Dr Miller did some further testing to unfortunately discover my baby boy had pancreatic carcinoma, which is notoriously aggressive and untreatable. He only had 1 month from diagnosis until I had to put him to sleep. Dr Miller and Nurse Amie were incredibly empathetic throughout the entire devastating process. I could tell they really cared and I never felt rushed during the process, there was plenty of time and encouragement to process the news and ask questions. They clearly provided me with a diagnosis and treatment options, and in writing too. The front desk referred me to some at-home euthanasia vets in Wilmington for when the time came. Unfortunately, I had to put my baby boy down a week ago. I was able to keep Barley comfortable at home with palliative care Blue Pearl prescribed during his final weeks. His side effects were controlled and he was his normal happy self right up until the day he told me it was his time. Pancreas cancer acts quickly, and part of me is glad his suffering wasn’t prolonged. I am eternally grateful for Dr Miller and the staff at Blue Pearl for diagnosing the issue and giving me that closure. I truly couldn’t have done anything to cure Barley, but at least I knew we were in his final days so I could give him the most love and comfort possible. If love alone could have cured my boy, he would have lived forever. When it’s my time, I know he will wake me up on the other side with head butts.

The staff are caring and compassionate. You can call and check on your pet at any time day or night and the ICU nurse who is taking care of them will talk with you. This helped me out so much! They also sent pics to let me know that our fur baby was doing well. They have a children’s corner which can help keep little ones occupied while you wait.

My pup Murphy needed an emergency visit and my Vet recommended BluePearl. During one of the scariest moments of my life, the staff was AMAZING. Extremely thorough in every explanation they provided me with, made sure I understood all cost implications. I dropped him off around 12:00 p.m. on Monday and he went under for surgery the same night, their Dr's stayed late for his surgery to ensure he was fixed as soon as possible. Definitely a pricey place, but when it comes to the making sure your babies are in good hands, they do an amazing job!

It has been an absolute nightmare dealing with these people. My dog had his leg amputated and they (supposedly) sent it off for a biopsy. First off, they are trying to charge me $3,000 over the estimate for the surgery. On top of that, they brought my dog out the day after surgery with no instructions, no information from the surgery and refuse to answer any of my questions. The receptionists answer the phone with so much attitude and get so annoyed whenever we call and ask simple questions about our dog. Also, the receptionists told me he would need to get his stitches removed, but then turned around and told my regular vet that there were no stitches to remove. It's been 3 weeks now and they still have not given us the results of the biopsy so they obviously don't care about my dog... he has an aggressive bone cancer and they're holding our results because we haven't paid our ridiculously inaccurate bill? Are you serious? Not to mention, I've left multiple messages for the surgery department and no one has even attempted to give me a call back to answer questions about my dog or bill... If you are truly in need of an emergency or specialty vet hospital, I strongly suggest going elsewhere!!!

I have used this pet hospital twice. First when my senior dog, Zelda, needed to get a growth removed. They were great with her. I asked the nurse to just talk to her and use her name a lot because I talk to her a lot at home. They did a great job, they were so patient with her, and respected my needs and concerns. I needed them one other time, when my other dog, Reinhardt, got into mouse poison. We were there all night but they took care of him and were very patient with me asking a lot of questions and worrying. It has been great to live so close to a place like this. I have had good experiences here.

We brought our 7 year old dog here because we were told he had a tumor. The whole entire staff was so nice and caring! Our nurse absolutely loved our dog and she treated him as if he was hers. Dr. Steven's was so caring when she did his ultrasound. Before going here I looked at previous reviews and regret prejudging off of them. If your dog or animal needs help I would take them here. The prices of treatment were not near as expensive as I thought they were going to be (because of reviews). They also offer military discount! We were so grateful to find out our dog is perfectly healthy and what our primary vet thought was a tumor was just an inflammatory infection. We are so grateful for Blue Pearl and it's staff.

My experience with BluePearl Vet Hospital was outstanding. I was out of town over the weekend when my friend came to check on my 3 y/o cat and said he was not looking good. We found out later that he had a life-threatening bladder blockage. My primary vet was closed for the weekend so I decided to call BluePearl to get him in. Here are my highlights: -They warned me that there would be a short waiting period and managed to get him in faster than they had originally thought -Knowing I had been out of town, they allowed me to go in the back and see him for a few moments before putting him under for a procedure -Dr. Piner thoroughly and empathetically explained every step of the process that they would have to take in order to get him healthy again -They sent text message updates in the mornings, phone call updates during the day, and more phone call check-ins when he went home -They were understanding when I called many times with questions or just needing reassurance that my pet was okay -Discharge instructions/paperwork were clear -My primary vet office had been informed of my cat’s condition before I called -After much research, the price that I paid for my cat’s emergency stay was about average for the same care that we would’ve had elsewhere (although they do not offer payment plans--- make sure you have a line of credit and pet insurance!) -The cherry on top of this amazing service was that they overnight shipped my cat’s collar that I accidentally left behind— before I even realized it was gone (which was awesome because I live an hour away)! Thank you to all of the staff who cared for my fur-baby as much as I do!

I have been taking my fur baby here routinely over the last 6 months for her lymphoma treatment and have had a great experience. My initial consultation was very thorough, all my questions were answered, and cost was broken down very clearly. Dr. Stevens, Lacinda and the entire Blue Pearl Oncology team have been so kind, compassionate, responsive, and knowledgeable throughout this whole experience. Not only have they taken great physical care of her but they have learned her personality and how to ensure she is comfortable and relaxed while there. I truly feel they care for her like she is their own fur baby. We will be moving out of town and are so sad to leave this amazing team. Thank you again Blue Pearl Oncology !

Drove 1.5 hours for a consultation that took 20 minutes, and was charged $135 ( the vet we saw was very nice and explained things to me which I appreciated). The girl who schedules procedures called me shortly after I left but I missed the call. I called back twice and left messages saying I need to schedule an appointment for my dogs procedure, their voicemail says it can take 4/5 days to call back.. that’s a bit ridiculous considering … at this point it had been 6 business days since my first message. My most recent call was last night . So this morning at 9am they finally call me back and I’m thinking it’s to schedule the appointment but really they were calling to make sure I was showing up to for the 9am appointment. I said I had no idea we even had an appointment, I never got a call back. So they scheduled an appointment for a medical procedure but never even told me!?! I got transferred to a manager who said she needed to talk to the girl who sets the appointments to “figure this puzzle out” And that I was even sent 2 emails, one requiring a deposit, I never even gave them my email address. I told the manager it’s not a puzzle I called and left 2 messages asking to schedule an appointment and was never even called back and turns out the girl who makes the schedule added me to it , but she couldn’t be bothered calling me back?? I told them I don’t think I’m comfortable allowing them to work on my dog and that I’ll find someone else . You can’t even call a client back and you schedule an appointment with out telling them and I’m supposed to leave my dog with you for a medical procedure ~ I don’t think so!! I was also told my dog would have to be under full anesthesia for the ct scan for a possible dental issue (which I didn’t want because she’s already been under anesthesia twice in the last year for this issue and she’s a tiny dog) and the estimated cost was between 3-4 THOUSAND dollars( anticipating surgery, a culture, all of that kind of stuff ) So I called another specialist in Virginia Beach. I called after hours and they still answered and the woman spent 20 minutes on the phone with me while I explained my situation. She explained their whole procedure and told me they will to do a ct scan for my pup , by sedating her Not putting her under surgical anesthesia and the cost for the scan will be around 6-900$, which is much better than 4 thousand! Once they review the results they will contact me and we can discuss the issue and a plan to get her better

Can’t thank all the staff and surgeon at blue pearl enough. Nightmare Holiday, traveled 12hrs north to visit family and our sweet 5mth old pup got ill the instant we got there. 2 ER visits there and when they “didn’t like what they were seeing” on X-ray, we hauled butt back here for surgery. It was worse than initially thought and after a pretty major surgery he is doing awesome. They were very attentive, great communication and updating and above all looked after our fuzzy child 24/7. Critical care staff was on point. I am certain if we stayed up where we were he would not have survived….they had no definitive answers there and wanted to do more studies that would have prolonged action for more than a day. Got here and radiologist looked at X-rays from NY and said he needed to go straight to surgery….Thank you so much for saving my boy! Best Xmas present ever is having him home w us again.
