The men at this Valvolone location upcharged and pressured me to pay $160 for an oil change for an old sedan. They take advantage of womens ignorance of cars. If your a woman I highly discourage you from getting your car serviced here! They totally played me and took my money. I couldn’t argue because I was juggling two crying babies. Do not get an oil change here- they will rip you off!

Listen, I’ve used several oil change services, so I’m familiar with the nature of how they operate. Nothing really differentiates these services, right? They all throw coupons out like wedding rice, they all have the same oil options, up charges and they all get you “in and out” in a reasonable time-frame (save for a vehicle that requests additional services, which is not the locations fault). But there is ONE reason I will quickly leave a location or stay. The people. How I’M handled. It matters. I recently had an experience at this location that was decent enough. Guys were pleasant and took care of me quickly. The problem didn’t present itself until I needed to return…. I went to another Valvoline location, closer to my new home. I was informed (at that location) that there was an issue that should’ve been handled with my last oil change (here at Huntersville) and that I couldn’t be serviced at this (more convenient) location. Needless to say, I was upset. I arrived today, back to this location. I was greeted by Shelton (spelling?). I explained my situation and he OWNED IT. He didn’t explain it away, he didn’t give me a story that as a “non-mechanically inclined” individual, I would have to accept. Which happens a lot in the auto industry. Lol. He told me the truth and owned a mistake that wasn’t even his directly , nor was he around this location when it happened. I RESPECT that. So much, that I will go out of my way (literally), to come back here for my oil changes. As long as managers, employees and the like handle me like he and Christian (he was excellent too!) did… they will KEEP me. It’s worth the extra 15 miles or so, to me, to be handled the right way and taken care of! Service: Oil change

EDIT A four star review was left originally. Pretty good. Funny comments from owner about the types of oil one may choose and that is why they can’t and don’t tell you in advance what the price is. That is about the dumbest response I have ever heard. If order a pizza (choosing between 30 toppings I am told in advance toppings are $3 each added to the pizza price). When I came in for the oil change there was no difference in price if I chose 5w30 or 5w20 or 10w40….so again your response is dumb. You buy oil in bulk I guess less than $1 a quart. I am not begrudging you have up charges. Truly I should pay more for the extra 2.7 quarts my truck requires. You could be more forthcoming and your not. My review simply tried to point out the $21 up charge for the oil to other customers so they are not upset. ORIGINAL REVIEW There are several employees working here. They had both bays open. Yet for some reason they only work on one car at a time. Confused but whatever. Took about an hour to get into shop after getting into line out back. Several customers gave up waiting and pulled out of the line and left. Once inside they have you wait in your car while the fluids are changed. Said I needed a new air filter for $25. Auto zone has for $8. So no thank you. Had a coupon for $24.99 oil change. Yes coupon said five quarts of oil. My truck takes 7.7 quarts so there is an up charge for the extra oil. Of course that seems reasonable. They did not tell me until afterwards (and I did not ask before- my bad) How much could 2.7 quarts be if 5 quarts and filter and lube and labor were $25 plus tax. Well each quart is $7 and they charge for 3 quarts because…. So 24.99 plus 21 plus tax and disposal fee total of $51 for oil change. Not good not bad just not clear upfront. By the way nothing on the website or at the store tells you the rate per quart. So I guess I am lucky it wasn’t a lot more. Overall staff is polite, job is dirty and I didn’t have to crawl under truck on 100 degree day.

NEVER AGAIN!!! I waited an hour and a half as the 3rd car in line (1 in the bay, 1 in front of me) for the oil change. Then, as they were finishing my oil change, the guy tried to close my hood before putting the prop stick down. I'm shouting at him to stop, but he doesn't. He bent the prop so badly that they couldn't get it out to put the hood down. The whole time I'm shouting to get their attention. It took 4 employees to try bending it back so they could get it out to release the hood. The one guy laughs and says "haha no charge!" Meanwhile I've paid $78 for an oil change and a bent up hood prop that just dangles, won't stay in the clip and is unstable and dangerous for the next mechanic who has to work on my car!

On 3 separate occasions there has been a issue with the skid plate under the car. The first time it feel off the bottom of the car going down the road. To there credit they replaced the skid plate. The 2nd and 3 times they didn’t tighten the screws on the skid plate correctly. And I found it hanging loose below the car. I feel like this is just not having the staff Trained properly. I will not return to the place!!! Service: Oil change

Very nice employees, late hours for those who work, and you can generally get an oil change in less than an hour or so. Can't really complain. Yes, the cars do back up from time to time but I usually just come back at a different time rather than wait. No issues here.

I had the most amazing oil change experience Valvoline always does a great job with my oil change, but it was the service they provided that meant so much more. Aquil was my service technician. He was polite, kind, let me know exactly how long of a wait I would have, came to my car spoke to me and just took total care of everything I needed. I told him of an experience the day before at a competitor's oil change station, where I pulled in, walked into an empty waiting room, waited for 20 minutes was never asked if they could help me or anything and I left and decided It would be worth the wait to go back to Valvoline the next day. I am so glad I did. Aquil is a younger man, but he had customer service in spades! I bragged on how well he took care of me and how much I appreciated it and I really do. He says he always likes to do his best and thinks of the Chick-fil-A model of doing business. This young man will be going places, his family was actually there and he took a quick second to introduce me to his wife and children who just happened to be there that day,,and I got to brag on what a great job he had done for me. Aquilwill be going places in his future. You Don't find dedication and talent like that everyday. Thank you again to Aquil and the team at Valvoline Huntersville. Took my new vehicle for a 5000 mile oil change. They claimed they couldn’t get screws out and didn’t want to cross thread any of them so they didn’t change my oil. I took it to a dealer and they told me that whoever tried to change my oil cross threaded 4 screws and loosened my oil filter so it was leaking. I had to pay a dealer $200 because of Valvolines mistake. Very disappointed

Hoping to get a quick oil change after working 12 hour night shift. The workers were nice. However, extremely disappointed with the painfully long wait time. The workers move like sloths. They have no care about the number of cars piling in line. For example; casually sitting down by the car tires with legs fully stretched out to remove each tire. Numerous vehicles backed out and left. There was only one bay open for the first hour. I regularly use the Valvoline in my home town. They are amazingly efficient and very informative. I was also given information about my car that was completely opposite of the regular store I use. I always receive consistent reports from my regular Valvoline. I did not feel reassured or confident in their skill and reports. This was also due to the fact of unprofessionalism, I.e. buttcracks showing from sagging pants. Exhausted and frustrated with this experience. I regret going here and hope my car is not screwed up.

Had my truck serviced with an oil change. The staff was friendly and quick with my service, however I had to wait nearly 30 minutes for two vehicles in front of me with the first one taking nearly 20 minutes to complete - and they were already working on it when I arrived! Don't know what was going on as most of them stood around in front of the car for a long time. But once that car was done, the next car only took about 7-8 minutes to finish, and my truck took about the same time. The 2nd bay was performing inspections, so naturally that takes more time. Overall, the folks appear to be competent and courteous. I'll definitely keep coming here for oil changes. Service: Oil change
