Breed and Company has been around (it seems like) for forever and this Austinite has been a customer for many years. Half boutique and half Ace Hardware, Breed is an excellent place for everything from the random bolt you need to fine home goods (I could spend all day in the cookware). Quite unlike any other store I've been in and the staff is always friendly and willing to help. Not may places like this left. Check them out.

Everyone knows about Breed & Company as a home decor and gift shop, but it's also an Ace Hardware store. And the truth is that Breed & Company is one of your best hardware options in Austin. After finding out that the two big box chains were out of a relatively common part for a toilet, we decided to check Ace Hardware's website and found that this Breed & Company had the part in stock. First of all, the hardware selection here is huge. While the aisles may not be as long or as spread out as the big box stores, the selection of items is every bit as good -- if not better. And unlike the big box stores, you don't need to try to find help. Within a few minutes of fumbling around the plumbing parts, one of their staff came over to ask me what he could help me find. Then, when he had difficulty finding the item, he got more help. Once they determined they had the part, they weren't going to give up until they found it. And when I got to the front to pay, the cashiers made sure that a second register was open to take care of the two people in line. In other words, this is the exact opposite of the big box hardware store. The most surprising part? The parts I needed were less than half the price of the big box store.

This place is awesome! You can get drain cleaner, stuffed animals, yeti cups and a snack all in one place. Plus the employees are really nice and super helpful!

We went into the Ace Hardware section of this store for a ego electric lawnmower battery. We were in awe! What a treasure hidden in this store! You would be amazed at all the cool things they have for sale! High end stuff...great for weddings, baby showers, high end gifts that will impact a recipient, etc. is soo coo! Even high end kitchen items and a chocolate shop!!! We can't wait to go back! The staff is so friendly and helpful!

It's neat, but super expensive. Most of the hardware, etc is just way too much compared to big box stores. They do have unusual and unique home items, aprons, special laundry soaps, etc so it's worth a trip to check it out. I just wouldn't buy duct tape, nails etc. Lol

The lady was nice and helped me pick something out for my mom as it’s her favorite store. Lots of options and I didn’t know what the heck I was doing but the woman at the counter wish I saved receipt for her name... anyway great gifts and great help navigating around!
