Elizabeth helped me purchase a whole set up for backpacking and she was fantastic! She was so knowledgeable about packs and she gave me the great recommendation of the Gregory Deva. She also helped set me up with a super light sleeping bag and an ultralight sleeping pad. She even knew what would work perfectly for a side sleeper like me who gets cold easily. I can’t wait to try out all this new gear and thank you so much Elizabeth for sharing your knowledge through your own experiences with the gear!

Went there looking for shoes. I bought two pairs of Hoka's. Here's hoping they work, feel good & have the right support. Love this store & their employees. They are all knowledgeable about their products & considerate when waiting on you giving you their full undivided attention. I also bought a travel purse & love it & use it almost everyday.

Terrible service here, after being ignored some time while the sales person we asked for a pump for the $1,000 worth of Kayaks had in our cart they didn’t have them in stock. When we said having the kayaks with no pumps doesn’t make sense we were shamed and told “we are still in a pandemic”. Meanwhile, the pump will be here tomorrow from Amazon. We usually support local stores but this time the locals didn’t have what we are looking for. We will happy to go to us outdoor or Portland outdoor in the future. Bye forever REI.

Came in specifically to buy a new mountain bike. Spent over an hour looking at the bikes and not a single employee could be bothered to help me. There were more employees on the bottom floor than there were customers. But apparently personal conversations with other employees are more important than the customers coming in to spend a grand on a bike. Not a problem. There are plenty of local shops to give my money to. Honestly, that's what I should have done to begin with.

Went in to try on shoes. There looked to be only one person working the shoe area and I was one of four guests wanting to try on shoes. The dude who helped was named Jeff. He was great. He was able to help everyone without missing a beat. He was even interrupted by another employee and Jeff was more than happy to help them too! Very impressive. On a side note, why would a company like REI only have one employee in shoes?! Get the dude some help! It's not about him Benning able to do it, it's that he couldn't spend time with each customer to maximize the sale. I may have purchased other stuff if Jeff had time to suggest anything. You know they can afford it but just choose to "monitor the bottom line". I did see other employees walking around looking busy and asking shoppers if they "needed help". Anyway, Jeff was great. Very helpful. Very knowledgeable. But I see burn out in his future if REI doesn't start hiring people and paying them so they stay. And honestly Jeff and the lady that took our money were the only friendly people there. The rest of the "workers" were cold and in the way. Thanks again Jeff and good luck.

Great selection of clothes for any kind outdoor adventure you're going on. Best selection for water packs. And I enjoyed that they allow you to rent equipment like Paddle boards, boots and what have you.

The 5 stars is for the boot department. Specifically for Ian. He had a broad knowledge of the boots that were available. He was able to take what I wanted in my head and make it appear physically in front of me. With multiple options, no less! I say this with the utmost respect, Ian is the boot whisperer. I took my new Lowa boots up to Mt. Hood and loved every step I took in them. Thank you, Ian.

Customer service is great, as always. It's a very friendly, helpful environment. However, as of this review (middle of August 2020) they are suffering from the same resupply issues that are affecting a lot of retailers right now. I'd check online for the availability of in-store pickup before making a trip.

I was picking up my bike after a tuneup. But the bike mechanic gave me helpful advice about a tail light that tends to fall off the rack on my bike.
