Whistle Britches - Willow Bend in Plano (2405 Dallas Pkwy SUITE 4, TX 75093)
About:
At Whistle Britches, we’re all about chicken. In 2016, Chef Omar Flores had one thing in mind – serve the tastiest, juiciest and crunchiest bird in town. Our pickle brined bird, farm-fresh ingredients and soulful cooking will leave you wanting more. We believe comfort food never goes out of style. Our scratch kitchen is always baking fresh buttermilk biscuits and some of the best chicken sandwiches in town. Couple all that with a great local craft beer selection and inventive cocktails, you soon realize why we came up with the name Whistle Britches. We like to draw a lot of attention to ourselves, and we’re ok with that! So if you haven’t stopped in yet, what are you waiting for?

It's nice to see that this place is still great! I used to go to their previous location and was sad to hear it closed, but this location is bigger and the food's quality is just as good! I ordered the Wingman with coleslaw because I had not tried it before, and my husband got the original Whistle Britches sandwich (which is what I usually go for) and Brussels sprouts. Both were excellent. The chicken is juicy, I'm not sure if they use a pressure fryer or what but each piece was perfectly cooked. The biscuit quality has not changed--basically they're perfect, crumbly and fluffy with just the right salt level. I can never finish a whole one but I'm planning to eat the other half today for breakfast. The honey butter is delicious, the pepper jelly is delicious. We also ordered fried green tomatoes and really my only complaint was the portion was really small for $10...but it's also not green tomato season so that's on me for ordering it. The pickled okra it comes with was delightful, and the fried green tomatoes, while very small, were clearly just freshly done out of the fryer, piping hot and perfectly seasoned. Service was excellent. Our server was efficient, kind, and came by just often enough to do a good job without being a helicopter server.

So, I came to this restaurant based on the reviews and the food did not disappoint. I had the sir mix a lot and I subbed the side for Mac and cheese. While I was expecting an update for the Mac and cheese, I would have been better off taking the cold slaw and or the potato salad and paying for a side of Mac and cheese. Subbing the Mac and cheese was $6 while the side was $8. The biscuit was hot and fresh and came with a side of butter and jam. There was so much food that I asked for a to go counter before I start eating and had enough food left for dinner. I will definitely be back. The service was prompt and we walked in and although there was a wait we opted to eat in the bar which was open sitting.

Chicken tenders are not what you are used if you have had them from fast food restaurants. These are delicious! They're as if you grandma was making them from scratch! We ordered the chicken and waffles and chicken fried steak. They were delicious. So I must apologize for the pictures. As you can see we could not wait to dig into them. Stop by, you will not regret it.

I normally find something good in every situation, however im finding it hard when describing my experience at Whistle Britches at the Willow Bend location in Plano Texas. Initially walking in. I was greeted with a smile and I felt very welcome. Unfortunately, that's were it stopped. Once seated I felt as if I was a ghost and no one could see me. The intriguing part is staff members and the manager saw me, however didn't ask if I needed anything or if I was helped. I would have thought someone would say....we're sorry, we are under staffed, and someone will be right with you. After 15 minutes, I made contact with bartender. It felt as if she could see my disappointment. She came over and took my order. Her name was Villa. She was great. It was only disappointing because she was extremely busy at the bar and couldn't truly wait on tables as well. This is the bulk of my disappointment. Why did the manager continue to walk pass me and not acknowledge me or apologized for lack of customer service. With that being said, I ordered the Don Chingon sandwich. It was a 5 out of 10. I also ordered the Garlic Butter Fries, and they were over cooked. The Homestead Grits were something to write home about. They were exceptionally good. To sum it up, overall I was extremely disappointed. A little acknowledgement from the Manager would have made the experience completely different

I really loved this place from the atmosphere, to the service that was given. Now the food was so delicious I tried the chicken and waffles the chicken tenders were just right. The street corn, the Permento cheese, corn fritters, and the onion dip were very good also. I will be going again. 👏👏👏👏

We started off with the caramelized onion dip which was decent. I was not expecting it to be cold and the chips weren’t the best way to get the dip out of the small container, but the flavor was solid. Both chicken sandwiches were good, we got the Don Chingon and the Pitmaster. But the real star of the meal was the side of Mac and cheese. The Mac n cheese was extremely creamy and flavorful which made it the perfect accompaniment to the meal.

We did a Sunday brunch with the family here. We were a party of 8 and had reservations. Still took a while to get seated. The food is average. Nothing special. I ordered the legs and eggs. The chicken was not hot. Room temperature and lacked any flavor. Didn’t taste the Nashville flavor either. The biscuits and eggs were actually good.
